Create docs & code with Canvas in Gemini Apps

You can create, edit, and format a doc or code directly in the Canvas space in Gemini Apps.

Important: To use this feature, you must be signed in to Gemini Apps. Learn how to sign in to Gemini Apps.

Important: You can only edit text style and format in the Gemini web app on desktop. This functionality is not available on mobile devices.

Create a doc or code

In the Canvas space for your prompt, you can directly edit the text or code. Changes are auto-saved.

Tip: To view your saved versions, at the top, click Previous Version or Next Version .

Go to gemini.google.com or open the Gemini mobile app .
Open the chat with the code you want to review.
At the top right, choose what you want to do:
- To preview HTML and React web applications: Tap Preview.
- To find errors and logs from the preview: Tap Show console .

Go to gemini.google.com or open the Gemini mobile app .
Open the chat you want to copy or export.
At the top, tap Share .
Choose what you want to do:
- To copy the text or code: Tap Copy .
- To open text in a new Google Doc: Tap Export to Docs.
- To open Python code in Colab: Tap Open in Colab.

Go to gemini.google.com or open the Gemini mobile app .
Open the chat with the doc or code that you want to share.
At the top, tap Share Share .
Choose how you want to share:
- To share the link: At the top, next to the g.co/gemini/share link, tap Copy link . Then paste it where you want to share, like in a messaging app, an email draft, or a forum thread.
- To share on an available social platform: At the bottom, tap the social platform and follow the on-screen instructions.
