Ben Reed

I'm a Software Engineer with full-stack experience. I've worked on applications, frameworks, distributed systems, embedded scripts, and Kubernetes controllers. I’m very passionate about deep learning, NLP and information retrieval. I also enjoy working with the iOS SDK.

My wife, our 2 dogs, and I call the San Francisco Bay Area home. I regularly attend a handful of SF Meetups.

Experience

  • Google: I spent 5+ years working in Search, Research and Cloud.

    • Built and maintained the frameworks behind the look, feel, and performance of the Search results page.
    • Developed distributed systems to validate medical data pipelines.
    • Tested Google’s global networks and gRPC performance on Kubernetes.

  • Texas Instruments: built tools to monitor long-running simulations.

  • IBM: integrated anonymization and pseudonymization into big data pipelines.

  • Faithlife: optimized embedded scripts with a CDN and removed a problematic ORM.
