“𝗔𝗜 𝗶𝘀 𝗺𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗰𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗽𝗲𝗼𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸, 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱.” That was the sentiment at Arm Unlocked Taipei, where we uncovered the realities of deploying AI at the edge. We explored the challenges developers and users face—specifically thermal design, privacy, and the friction of setup. At Acer, we believe the solution lies in hardware–software co-design. By aligning our hardware architecture with the software stack, we can turn raw compute power into real-world utility. We highlighted two distinct ways this is taking shape: 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗺𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗔𝗜 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆: The Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514 is designed to optimize ChromeOS AI for real-world productivity, with features like Smart Grouping, on-device image editing, and adaptive video enhancement—all running locally. Leveraging an Arm-based architecture for excellent power efficiency and fast responsiveness, the device delivers advanced AI capabilities while staying cool and extending battery life, with AI processes running privately and seamlessly on device. 𝗗𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗰𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿:For professionals, the Veriton GN100 (via NVIDIA) removes the barrier to entry. With the preloaded NVIDIA DGX OS, the NVIDIA AI software stack, and our built-in AI frameworks—including PyTorch, TensorFlow, and CUDA—we are giving researchers and engineers an Arm-based system that’s powerful, compact, and developer-ready for AI workloads. Our team discussed how 𝗦𝗩𝗘𝟮 (𝗦𝗰𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝘅𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝟮) accelerates vectorized workloads to boost on-device AI tasks such as image processing and inference on the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514. Meanwhile, SVE2 on the Acer Veriton GN100 AI mini workstation enables efficient parallel computation for AI model training and edge analytics, providing higher performance and improved energy efficiency in AI-driven workflows.
