Belmond was born from a passion for connecting discerning travellers with the world’s most remarkable properties, locations and journeys. From hotels and trains to river cruises and safaris, Belmond curates incomparable experiences and crafts unforgettable stories. With a legacy spanning over 45 years, since the acquisition of Hotel Cipriani in Venice in 1976, Belmond has grown into a global collection of 43 properties spread across 24 countries and territories. Exceptional destinations connected by legendary journeys are the very soul of Belmond, where the path that brings you to a place is as important as the destination itself. A pioneer of slow travel, Belmond has been operating the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express since 1982. The group later expanded to include pristine beach resorts, such as Maroma on the Riviera Maya, historic hideaways such as Villa San Michele in the Florentine foothills, urbane icons, such as Copacabana Palace in Rio de Janeiro, and gateways to UNESCO world heritage sites, such as Hotel das Cataratas in Brazil’s Iguassu National Park.     Copacabana Palace, A Belmond Hotel has been our Brazilian beachfront icon for over a century, filled with historical glamour as illustrious stars of past and present have made legendary memories here. As a symbol of Rio de Janeiro’s enduring allure, it is our staff who bring the hotel to life and in the next installment of Serving Up Success we speak to Banqueting Supervisor Ana Beatriz Costa, to understand more about her career journey. Ana first joined the team in 2016 as a Young Apprentice and her talents were quickly recognised and she joined the team permanently as a waitress before progressing onto Head Waiter at one of the restaurants at Copacabana Palace, Pérgula. Ana’s career has continued to grow from this as she remarks “Belmond has supported my growth by providing valuable training, mentorship, and opportunities to take on new challenges. The company’s focus on excellence has inspired me to continuously improve, while the collaborative environment has allowed me to learn from experienced colleagues and expand my skills.” At Belmond we are committed to fostering a supportive environment in which our talents can grow: “In the future, I’m looking forward to continuing to grow professionally by taking on more responsibilities and expanding my expertise in hospitality. I’m excited about the opportunity to work with diverse teams, learn from new experiences, and contribute to creating exceptional guest experiences. I also hope to take on leadership roles where I can mentor others and share my knowledge, helping to shape the next generation of professionals in the industry.” We asked Ana what is one piece of advice she would share with someone considering a career with us, “My advice would be to embrace Belmond’s commitment to excellence and passion for delivering exceptional experiences. Focus on developing your skills, stay open to learning, and be proactive in seeking new opportunities. Belmond values individuals who are dedicated, adaptable, and eager to contribute to a team.     This festive season, we are excited to welcome esteemed pastry chef Benoît Blin, recognised for his work at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, A Belmond Hotel and The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel, at Reid's Palace, A Belmond Hotel. Throughout November and December, guests can savour a special collection of festive cakes, meticulously prepared by Benoît Blin. These will be available for enjoyment in the newly designed Tea Library or can be taken away to share with loved ones at home. Additionally, the terrace offers a limited-edition version of Reid’s renowned afternoon tea, infused with a festive French essence, a tradition we are delighted to uphold. At the inaugural Travel + Leisure Italy's Best Awards, held last night at the iconic St. Regis in Rome, excellence in Italian hospitality was celebrated and we are proud to have three hotels named among the 50 best hotels in Italy, as selected by the editorial team of Travel + Leisure Italia. Castello di Casole also earned an additional accolade, the Best Local Experiences Award which recognizes the estate's profound connection to Tuscan culture, traditions, and the local community.     In the vibrant heart of Lima in Peru, we meet with Bar Manager Fiorella Larrea at Miraflores Park, A Belmond Hotel as she shares her connection to mixology and what inspired her to join Belmond. Growing up in Peru Fiorella always felt a strong connection to the industry as she recalls moments with her “father, who was always a great host, very detailed oriented when it came to serving others and at home I learnt about the different cuts, techniques and the art of hospitality.”. For Fiorella it wasn’t food that captured her imagination but “it was mixology that truly captivated me: it’s level of detail, the possibility of creating and sharing tastes, and the guests experiencing this at the bar is what motivated me.” When asked what brings her the most joy everyday she warmly responded, “Being able to share my cocktails, my creations. Beyond the flavor, what excites me is knowing that people recognize my style in each creation with its own unique stamp. I am glad that they identify "my touch" and value it. I feel confident in my way of working and I have a team that supports me, which makes everything even more rewarding.” Fiorella’s career hasn’t always been in this industry as she has ggrown throughout departments to follow her passion: ” I started in the Housekeeping area, taking care of the room linens. Thanks to the head housekeeper at that time, who was very detail-oriented, I learned the importance of excellence and the value in the details. After 9 months, I moved to the Food and Beverage area as a restaurant waiter, then I was a hostess, and later I moved to the "Belobar" Bar. I already had previous experience in a hotel abroad, and English helped me a lot in my incorporation. When researching Belmond, I was attracted to its focus on luxury and quality, something that was not seen in the previous hotel brand where I worked, and that motivated me to want to develop my career at Belmond.
