At the recent InsTech MGA Half-Day in London, our Managing Director and Co-Founder, Ben Laidlaw, outlined his take on how data-driven insights can guide smarter, faster decisions, which is becoming ever more important as we approach 2026.   Ben highlighted a pivotal shift in underwriting: success now depends on identifying areas of loss and profit across portfolios - and strategically reallocating capacity. This isn’t reactive; it’s fast, fair, and proactive decision-making powered by data.   💬 “Our promise to MGAs is simple: we’ll respond quickly and fairly to what we see in the data. Delegating Differently: How codification of claims data is transforming underwriting. “When you work in delegated authority, claims data is everywhere. Every syndicate handling a delegated book receives claims bordereaux, but the real difference lies in how that information is processed, coded and ultimately turned into insight,” explains our Head of Claims, Kirsty Coates ACII, in our latest article. Kirsty discusses how codifying claims data closes the feedback loop between claims and underwriting - giving underwriters clearer, more timely insights. She also emphasises that while codification and automation add speed and structure, the human element remains central, with every code and categorisation validated by Carbon’s adjusters and analysts.
