‼️“I’ve never seen so many questions asked of PSHE speakers after a talk. Thank you so much for your talk and for agreeing to answer questions from the students afterwards.” Bae HQ spoke to hundreds of Year 12 pupils at Beal High School yesterday. There was almost an hour of questions afterward! Some will be part of the second year of our School Startup Bootcamp. Well put them into teams and team them how to find a problem, build a solution and pitch to us at the end. We can take on two more state schools max! Huge thanks to Uthish Ranjan, Talvin Ramnah and Samer Ullah for coming too and Malika Arshad for coming to the previous session. Nothing we do gives me more satisfaction than speaking to ambitious young people. In 5 years’ time, I’d be quite happy for it to be all I really do. The more we achieve, the better the stories we can tell the students. To inspire, we need to do inspiring things. People talk of north stars. I’d love to deliver a talk to students in the future and tell them that Bae HQ Ventures was the first investor into a company they all know and love.

🥳 100+ Asian-Heritage Women have now appeared on Bae HQ's Startups Inside Out podcast! I can pretty confidently say that no one has interviewed more female Asian high-growth entrepreneurs and investors in the diaspora than I have! People told me that we'd run out of guests early on and there's no way we'd find enough women to interview. Spoilers: we still haven't run out. 🤫 My world is different to many people. I've seen so many fantastic Asian female leaders in the UK startup space that it's totally normal to me. If you listen to our podcast then it'll become normal for you too - whether you're looking for role models or you're an investor who needs to break their bias of what a founder looks like. Technically, it's 106 so far out of 224 unique guests released and recorded (~47.3%). You don't need me to tell you that the stats for the rest of the startup industry are significantly worse. We don't lower the bar for women to appear on the podcast because we don't need to ‼️. We're increasing the standard of our guests constantly, but I still know of more than enough women who meet the level. For tech founders, we're now only interviewing those who've raised $5m+ or have $5m+ revenue. For investors, we're looking at senior investors and Partners (& equivalents) at VC funds or prolific angels. We've actually had more women on panels than men at our events too. 🥺 Always feels special to go back to Ilford County High School! A much more awkward and anxious version went there from 2003-2010. The current students are way more ambitious than I was at their age! I didn't know my options back then and the idea of starting my own business wasn't on my radar at all. It's an honour to go back and share my journey with the students and more importantly, to give them opportunities. Bae HQ is bringing back our School Startup Bootcamps in 2026 and they're going to be bigger and better. We're working with a select group of state schools to provide the students with a week-long hackathon in our office. They'll learn how to find a problem, build a solution with AI then pitch for investment. We've got space for 2 more London-based schools so if you're a leader at one, get in touch!
