As Structural Engineering Team, we had a dedicated stand to displayed this year's theme: Bridges.
A large table in our collaborative space hosted a topographical model of the Thames, where kids and adults could build bridges across the river using modular wooden pieces, coloured threads and elastic bands.
In the background, the visitor could appreciate some boards regarding F+P current works under construction and a screen focusing on the Hammersmith Bridge project.
The experience was very satisfying and educational. It was impressive admiring the power of the children's imagination and freedom of thought, unrestricted by any technical knowledge.

A Guideline to Align in the Built Environment. Step-by-step recommendations for consistent and transparent embodied carbon assessments through Building Information Modeling (BIM) workflow optimization
WBCSD (World Business Council for Sustainable Development)
The built environment is at the forefront of the climate challenge, with embodied carbon from construction materials representing a significant share of global emissions. “A Guide to Alignment in the Built Environment” are technical recommendations developed under WBCSD by a global cohort of industry leaders with the technical lead of Autodesk, designed to help practitioners, owners, and policymakers use Building Information Modeling (BIM) to lower carbon emissions from the earliest stages of…
The built environment is at the forefront of the climate challenge, with embodied carbon from construction materials representing a significant share of global emissions. “A Guide to Alignment in the Built Environment” are technical recommendations developed under WBCSD by a global cohort of industry leaders with the technical lead of Autodesk, designed to help practitioners, owners, and policymakers use Building Information Modeling (BIM) to lower carbon emissions from the earliest stages of design.
Who is it for?
Architects, engineers, BIM managers, and sustainability consultants
Owners, developers, and policymakers
Anyone seeking to embed carbon considerations into design, procurement, and reporting workflows
Why read it?
Gain actionable, adaptable recommendations to improve carbon data quality and reporting
Avoid common pitfalls and improve collaboration across project teams
Support regulatory compliance and climate goals with transparent, comparable results
Learn from real-world examples and best practices developed by a cohort of leading firms
Adopting these guidelines helps organizations improve reporting accuracy, reduce risk, and unlock new opportunities for low-carbon innovation and leadership in the built environment.

The global movement of decarbonization in buildings is growing. Yet the industry is characterized by a multitude of standards and diverse BIM and carbon accounting processes used for assessing embodied carbon. Under the guidance of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, Autodesk and six leading architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) companies—AECOM, Arcadis, Arup, Foster + Partners, Ramboll, and SOM—collaborated to demonstrate these discrepancies on a case study that revealed a 34% variation in the firms' approaches to embodied carbon assessment using the same Revit model. Join our panel discussion to unpack the reasons behind this disparity, explore the complexities of translating BIM data into carbon insights, and propose guidelines to consider when undertaking an embodied carbon assessment. This technical discourse will identify opportunities for alignment and transparency within the industry, promoting actionable carbon assessments driven by BIM to support decarbonization efforts.
Expertise will be shared from our contributors: Andrea Colombo (Foster + Partners), Dana Far (Foster + Partners), Eric Stimmel (SOM), Javier Sanchez Hernandez (AECOM), Jordan Woodson (Arup), Laura Gomez Hernandez (AECOM), Leandro Reati (Foster + Partners), Margarida Goncalves (Arcadis), Monica Lucas (Ramboll), Retha Swanepoel (Foster + Partners), Rob Cairns (Ramboll), and Sandra Petkute (Arcadis) -
