The global market for AI chip products (accelerators, memories, fabrics etc) is growing at a staggering 30% per year -- and at this rate will be half the entire global semiconductor market by 2030. Just think of the economic growth potential if the UK could capture just 10% of the global market? We have deep AI talent in companies like DeepMind, OpenAI, ARM, and MSFT. And government commitment spawned by the AI Opportunities Plan and ARIA’s Scalable Compute program. Oxford Ionics has delivered a quantum computer, called Quartet, to the UK’s National Quantum Computing Centre (NQCC)! 🚀 Quartet is a full-stack, state-of-the-art quantum computer that combines ultra-high performance with scalability. Now installed at the NQCC’s quantum data centre in Harwell, Quartet is comprised of core capabilities including: ✅Electronic Qubit Control: our proprietary technology which uses electronics instead of lasers to control our qubits – enabling us to manufacture QPUs via standard semiconductor fabs ✅Record-breaking performance: with records set across two-qubit gate fidelity, single-qubit gate fidelity, and quantum state preparation and measurement ✅Field-upgradeability: meaning the existing system at the NQCC can be upgraded on-site to the same specification as the company’s highest performing systems by simply swapping out the credit-card sized QPU As the UK’s leading national laboratory for quantum computing, the #NQCC will use Quartet to test and develop key commercial use cases for quantum technology.
