As the letter highlights, stablecoins are not just ‘crypto assets’, they are emerging as core financial infrastructure that could: ✅ Reinforce Sterling’s international role ✅ Diversify demand for UK government debt ✅ Drive investment, jobs, and innovation in fintech ✅ Boost efficiency in cross-border trade & settlement The message is clear: while other jurisdictions race ahead, the UK risks missing a transformative moment. This week marks the anniversary of a landmark moment for UK institutional finance. On 23rd October 2024, Cartwright Pension Trusts Trust became the first UK pension fund (and one of the first globally) to allocate directly to #Bitcoin.
