About us

The main tasks of the Agency of Space Research and Technology under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan are the followings: - Development and implementation of a unified state policy and strategic directions in the field of space research and technology; - Development and implementation of state programs for the development of the space industry in the Republic of Uzbekistan; - Preparation of proposals for improving legislation in the field of space activities, space research and technology, including the development of legal acts; - implementation of state control over compliance with legislation in the field of space activities in order to ensure the required level of its development, organization of specialized and related work, provision of services; - preparation and implementation of comprehensive measures for the development of the infrastructure of the space industry, space research and technology, research, development and innovative works; - organization of training, retraining and advanced training of personnel in all areas of space activities, including in leading foreign higher educational institutions; - assistance to government agencies in improving the efficiency of solving problems through the use of stratospheric and other unmanned aerial vehicles, as well as spacecraft for remote sensing of the earth and satellite communications; - implementation of international cooperation in the field of space research and technology; - development of cooperation with international financial institutions, donor countries, companies and banks in cooperation with interested ministries and departments in order to attract foreign investment and advanced technologies in the field of space activities, including on the terms of public-private partnership;

  • Uzcosmos took part in the 9th Session of the Committee on Disaster Risk Reduction (26–28 November, Bangkok), held as part of the 5th ESCAP Resilience Week. The event brought together governments, experts, and international partners to discuss the future of climate resilience, early warning systems, and responses to extreme climate events in the Asia-Pacific region. Participation held strategic importance for Uzbekistan, including:  • advancing space technologies,  • strengthening national preparedness for emergencies,  • expanding regional cooperation on climate risks. Under Agenda Item 4, the Uzcosmos representative delivered a presentation highlighting the role of satellite and geospatial data in drought monitoring, salinity assessment, and decision support, as well as emphasizing cooperation with United Nations ESCAP under the Regional Drought Mechanism and capacity-building initiatives. Uzcosmos remains committed to active engagement in key discussions and strengthening partnerships for a more resilient future in the region.   • Uzbekistan and Oman to strengthen cooperation in the space sector Representatives of Uzcosmos held meetings at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology - Oman, as well as with Oman Lens LLC and Mars Development and Investment LLC. During the discussions, the parties explored opportunities for cooperation in several areas, including participation in investment projects, development of small satellites, creation of laboratories and ground stations, Earth remote sensing, and the implementation of educational programs.   • Uzcosmos and STAR.VISION Aerospace have signed a strategic memorandum to advance satellite technologies and space-based applications. The partnership focuses on launching joint projects, strengthening scientific and technological collaboration, and expanding cooperation with universities and industry partners. As part of the agreement, STAR.VISION will name one of its hyperspectral satellites “Samarkand-2028” and has officially expressed its support for the International Astronautical Congress, which Uzbekistan will host in 2028. The collaboration also includes the use of hyperspectral data to develop national cotton and wheat mapping systems – an important step toward enhancing the country’s agricultural monitoring capabilities.   • Uzcosmos Delegation at #DubaiAirshow 2025 🇺🇿🇦🇪 During the Dubai Airshow in the UAE, representatives of Uzcosmos are holding a series of strategically important meetings aimed at strengthening international cooperation in the aerospace sector. As part of the visit, the delegation toured the Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre, where they reviewed its infrastructure, scientific and technical capabilities, and ongoing projects. The sides also discussed opportunities for joint implementation of large-scale and pilot space initiatives. In addition, the team met with Orbitworks to explore their ongoing projects and potential areas of collaboration. Bilateral meetings were also held with EDGE, Zenith Space, and the UAE General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA), focusing on shared initiatives to advance aviation and space technologies, including discussions on deploying a UTM system in Uzbekistan. These engagements mark an important step in expanding Uzbekistan’s international partnerships and accelerating the country’s technological development in the aerospace field.     Uzcosmos and the UAE Space Agency: Space cooperation enters a new stage 🇺🇿🇦🇪 As part of Dubai Airshow 2025, the delegation of the Uzbek Space Agency, led by Director General Shukhrat Kadirov, held a meeting with the Director General of the UAE Space Agency, Salem Butti Al Qubaisi. During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UAE in the fields of space research, technological development, educational initiatives, and future partnership opportunities in innovation and space science.

  • Uzcosmos at Dubai Airshow 2025 On November 17, a delegation led by the director of the Uzcosmos agency took part in the Dubai Airshow 2025 international exhibition, holding a series of meetings with representatives of leading companies - Federal Geographic Information Center (UAE), ST Engineering (Singapore), Neo Space Group (Saudi Arabia) and Axiom Space (USA). During the visit, new areas of cooperation, innovative space technologies, and practical projects were discussed. The delegation also visited the stands of leading manufacturers of unmanned aerial vehicles – Joby, Honda, Autocraft, Archer, and Lodd – and familiarized themselves with their developments in detail.

  • Cooperation with Vast in the Field of Space Technologies Established 🇺🇿🇺🇸 As part of his visit to the United States, Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov held a meeting with Rich Leshner, Vice President of Vast, an American private aerospace company building the world’s first commercial space station. The meeting focused on the development of space technologies in Uzbekistan, strengthening international cooperation, and expanding the country’s human resource potential in the space sector. Minister Sherzod Shermatov emphasized the importance of supporting science and innovation, creating opportunities for young researchers, and increasing Uzbekistan’s participation in international space programs.
