Javascript library surveysSummary: We add Javascript libraries to our list of monitored and published web technologies. Since the appearance of Ajax and the emerging of highly interactive web applications, Javascript has become one of the key technologies on the Internet. Javascript is also used to overcome some of the limitations of HTML in allowing the creation of appealing and highly functional user interfaces on the web. As only some of these limitations are addressed by the upcoming HTML 5 release, there will always be a need for more powerful user interface tools.
This is where the Javascript libraries (often called frameworks) step in. They provide a solid basis for many common tasks such as DOM access, user interactions, event handling, animations and Ajax support. Furthermore, they hide browser incompatibilities from the developer as much as possible. That explains the popularity and importance of these libraries
JQuery is at the moment the darling of the web developers, but all the other libraries in our survey are also of high quality, and enable web developers to build applications that were not possible, or much harder to build just a few years ago. Share this page
