Labels are awesome. Before GMail I used Opera's M2 - which users labels too. And conversations are the way to sort, if only GMail was more intelligent than just using the Subject (a. I have friends who insist on changing the Subject with each reply; and b. those frickin' hyper-active SPAM filters that modify the Subject line).
