About this audiobook

Celebrate the fortieth anniversary of the enduring gothic masterpiece Flowers in the Attic—the unforgettable forbidden love story that earned V.C. Andrews a fiercely devoted fan base and became an international cult classic.

At the top of the stairs there are four secrets hidden—blond, innocent, and fighting for their lives…

They were a perfect and beautiful family—until a heartbreaking tragedy shattered their happiness. Now, for the sake of an inheritance that will ensure their future, the children must be hidden away out of sight, as if they never existed. They are kept in the attic of their grandmother’s labyrinthine mansion, isolated and alone. As the visits from their seemingly unconcerned mother slowly dwindle, the four children grow ever closer and depend upon one another to survive both this cramped world and their cruel grandmother. A suspenseful and thrilling tale of family, greed, murder, and forbidden love, Flowers in the Attic is the unputdownable first novel of the epic Dollanganger family saga.

The Dollanganger series includes: Flowers in the Attic, Petals in the Wind, If There Be Thorns, Seeds of Yesterday, Garden of Shadows, Beneath the Attic, and Out of the Attic.

This was one of the best, most infuriating books I’ve ever read. How someone could use such beautiful language & prose to talk about such horrendous things is incredible. The story was difficult to read, but it will stick with me for a long time. Some of the best books are the ones that make you feel something. A truly unforgettable read.

A very well written and sad story. The author has a mastery of language that lets us see, hear, and feel the characters' plight. The narrator did a fantastic job as well. It's no wonder this novel has stood the test of time.

I love the book but the narrator is annoying. I know from earth it to hrs that this is not the original narrator. The book seems to have been rewritten or retold. This is not the correct verbiage for this classic.

A story that tells the life of four children (siblings) trapped in an attic, unable to see the sunlight, watching the months go by through long, thick curtains, surviving fears, illnesses, and the confinement itself.

I liked the plot; it is narrated in a way that specific scenes are truly very good, reaching the most sensitive fibers (within me) as a reader, but I was very disappointed that the book was very predictable. The narrator ruins all the "canon" events by revealing to us long before they happen.
Also, the fact that the story drags on too much, taking 100 pages to narrate two months of confinement, and then a few lines later, two years have passed.
I think there was a lot of filler in its pages that could have been omitted without losing much. (Translated from Spanish)

Soon I will write a more extensive review; for now, I am limited to trying to process everything.

Few books have left me on the brink of collapse like this novel. My heart is silent. I love these brothers, and just like them, I cry out for vengeance... I cry out for justice.

I can't wait to finish the entire saga. (Translated from Spanish)

A very impactful and raw story. From the beginning, the plot captured me, very different from what I have read before. There is a palpable atmosphere filled with religion taken to the extreme, unclean desires, and broken promises. I am left with a mix of hope, resentment, compassion, and helplessness. It is definitely a book I recommend, warning that it is a very raw story, questioning the true intentions of some characters and the possibility of reaching the promised freedom. It was a different, intense, and very turbulent read. I really enjoyed reading something I’m not used to and the way themes are portrayed; just because they are taboo, I don’t think they should remain unknown.
P.S.: I just wanted to protect those 4 children and take them to a safe place after everything they were going through ?? (Translated from Spanish)

A great story, somewhat tedious in some descriptions, but without a doubt it's something worth reading; I wouldn't recommend it to someone sensitive. I eagerly look forward to reading the second part.

I wasn't wrong about the mother; she has always been worthy of my hatred. (Translated from Spanish)

Well, what to say about this book.

    1. I liked it, it was very entertaining and it made me feel various emotions.

    2. A cruel story for children who deserved everything.

    4. Corrine, I truly hate you.

And, well, the book was fine for my taste, everything happened in due time and I didn't feel like there was anything out of context, the only bad thing about the book is that it had unnecessary two-page descriptions. I mean, do you describe an entire mansion and a room just to then not mention it again? Boring. (Translated from Spanish)

A difficult story, to imagine a life in which you believe the promises of someone who should not fail you and realize that, in reality, it is worth nothing. Sad, tragic, and at times filled with the emotion of the love felt for siblings, giving everything for the sake of providing a better life than that of confinement. (Translated from Spanish)

It's a book that grabs you from the first chapter; you're on edge the whole time and you feel everything those children feel, a lot of anguish. It's good, but I give it a 4 because sometimes the description of a feeling was too much. (Translated from Spanish)

It's a story that captivates you and makes you feel how cruel and generous people can be. Besides, there is revenge involved. Well, it's a story that consists of 5 books; I still need to read the last one. I hope to be able to do it soon; I loved them. (Translated from Spanish)

It's a very impactful book, quite disturbing if we empathize with the poor children. I was quite surprised because I didn't expect to like a novel like this. It has too much filler, as I usually say, its descriptions can be tedious and repetitive at times, too many details that lead nowhere; but still, it's a very emotional story, filled with emotions ranging from tragedy to hope. It's not a novel for everyone as it's quite raw, almost real... Well, I hope it’s not based on real events because then I'll start crying. What a horrible mother, by the way... In this book, the emotions that always dominated me were anger and despair; it’s fascinating how a book can make you feel so many things. It talks about very strong themes, which made it difficult for me to read and process what was happening. I loved being able to read the contexts of past eras and see how we have evolved in that regard. The siblings caused me a lot of sadness; I just wanted to protect them. I hated the mother and the grandmother; you can realize that money moves many things, and what a person can be capable of doing for it, even if that means betraying someone you should love. The truth is this reading felt a bit long to me since there was no need for so many pages; the first part is very introductory, 250 pages of the same thing. But then it gets interesting and you can't put it down. Later, everything that happens gives you frustration and sadness, and it's worth it, but only the second half; the first isn't very entertaining, just at certain moments. (Translated from Spanish)

I am still speechless with this book, undoubtedly one of the best I have read this year. In my mind, I still can't comprehend so much evil in many humans, and to think that we still believe in many. I know it is a book, but I am sure that more than one person has gone through something similar, and it is sad and heartbreaking. I won’t review anything from what I read, but I highly recommend it.
