Introduction
If you have read the first edition of this book, you now realize there are many legitimate companies you can work for from home. The challenge is trying to find them. The scams, broken links, etc. outweigh the legitimate websites. Many people have been ‘taken’ for a lot of money from so called companies
promising thousands of dollars in income for minimal effort. This does not have to happen to you. If anything, working from home requires the biggest investment of yourself-not that you invest your dollars in a business scheme on a promise to make you rich.
This book is intended to save you time searching for legitimate sites to work from home. Time is a valuable resource. I realize that people have various skill sets, therefore I have organized the second edition containing 100 additional companies by industry. By doing this, you can go directly to the sites that fit your needs and you are interested in working. Why not save you time and have you start working from home as quickly as possible?
Additional Tips by Industry
Freelancers- Freelancing is one of the best positions you can actually make a good living working from home. If you have strong writing, technical, or creative skills, working for a freelance company, you can bid on literally thousands of open projects. Once you have completed a few projects in good standing, you develop a strong reputation and can literally ‘set your price’ going forward to reap the rewards. Freelancing is one of the more ‘liberating’ work from home positions, as you work for yourself whenever you want to work! Elance.com,Guru.com and VWorker.com are some of the bigger, more well known sites that hire freelancers to do literally hundreds of thousands of types of work!
Crowd Sourcing- You will note a few sites that use crowd sourcing as a strategy in getting projects completed. Crowd sourcing uses the talents of several people who share a project together. For example, one person may be responsible for writing an article, the other for proofreading, and another for illustration. The project returns to the client completed. This type of work is well suited for people who consider themselves a jack of all trades
. Or if you have a very strong skill set, you can be a specialist in for example –proofreading –and only work on projects that require that skill.
Money
Let’s be real. You are not going to get ‘rich quick’ working from home. However the word ‘rich’ is subjective and translates to how your life can be "enriched" when you do work from home. No more commutes, save money on gas, eating out, buying clothes and spending more time with family are legitimate reasons to work from home. Working from home presents the opportunity to set your own pace and balance your time with the objective being financial freedom!
Below are additional tips for working from home which I also included in my first edition. I am sure you will find them helpful!
In the event, none of these companies do not match your skill set, The first edition of my ebook, named onlinejobsthesoruce.com can be found on my website (same name) or on Amazon.com. It contains well over 100 legitimate companies totally different than this edition. There is also a bonus additional 10 company listing available for free in Smashwords.com and other well known ebook sites.
Work From Home - Guidelines
Keep in mind a few basic rules before beginning any work at home job:
Develop a schedule and stick with it.You are independent: there's no one looking at a clock to see if you arrive at work on time. You are in charge of your work schedule, therefore you are responsible for setting your hours and then staying with your plan. Make sure you set up a work schedule that is practical and manageable, and that includes breaks for things like lunch, stretching, etc.
Design your own work space.You need a quiet and private working environment: trying to work in a highly used area, like your family room or kitchen, will not be conducive to productivity. Your work space should also be a place where you want to spend time: it should be comfortable, warm, and inviting. It's also important to keep your space neat, because clutter can lead to disorganization and sloppy job performance.
Setting goals.Before you begin your work at home job, think about your goals and what you need to do in order to achieve them. There is no such thing as overnight success: everyone wants to reach their target quickly, but it often takes time and patience and effort to achieve goals. Stay focused, keep a positive attitude, and don't give up.
Equipment
I would recommend a trip to your local computer or electronics outlet to find out if you have the latest equipment for working from home. Have model numbers, software versions, and equipment serial numbers readily available: this will help to determine if you have the necessary resources to perform your job successfully.
Recommended Equipment for Working from Home:
Headsets with a good mic (to plug into a phone and a computer);
Updated software (companies have various requirements);
Top speed DSL internet connection (contact your phone service provider);
