I will not be reluctant to acknowledge GOD first for giving me the strength to write this book. Ever since I was a kid, it has been my belief that there is a higher power. Like billions of people in our world today, I do believe this. While there are many names for this higher power—ALLAH, YAWEH, ELOHIM, THE UNIVERSE, ENERGY—personally, I call this higher power GOD. If I ever achieve something that is great, I give the acknowledgement to GOD first. This has been my promise since childhood. Therefore, I am acknowledging HIM for the knowledge, understanding, energy, and any wisdom this book may offer.

I would like to acknowledge my mother, Samjeh Wilhemina Tafili Katenyin Dobgima, for excitedly encouraging me to write this book. She had a difficult time believing I would ever complete it. I was always doing too many important projects simultaneously. My mom was a teacher of English language and literature. My interest in writing speeches and using figures of speech was partly because of her influence. Alliteration, similes, euphemisms, word repetition, irony, and exaggeration are all techniques I came to understand thanks to my mom’s career.

I would also like to acknowledge my father, who contributed to some minimal aspects of my life.

Perhaps my uncle, Prince Patrick Sama, is my true hero. I always admired him for being a very generous and open-minded man. I considered him my father. He considered every child that came around him as his own. He was the father I never had. From him, I learned the art of being nice. It is a quality that has helped me a lot. He was a very nice man and everyone who lived with him loved him. He was also easy to please but very difficult to be persuaded away from chasing the things he wanted. He went for what he wanted. No one could change his mind even his wives.

I would also like to acknowledge my other friends and family. They have been a positive influence toward my effort to write this book from day one. That is, those who always believed in me expressed this and sincerely encouraged me to write even when they did not see a future for this volume. My fourth paragraph of recognition goes entirely to the famous school St. Joseph’s College Sasse (Sasse College), where I obtained my secondary, middle, and some high school education. Like the thousands of other former students from this school, my experience in Sasse College was one of the best times of my life. Thanks to all the open-minded friends and brothers from Sasse who played roles in my life. A recognition belongs here to cousin Glenn Timti, who also went to Sasse College. Sasse’s motto is Fides Quaerens Intellectum, which is Latin for Faith seeking knowledge.

Personally, I never wanted to be a writer. I have never seen myself writing a book but many people kept suggesting that I should write one. Each time I write an email, essay, or work report, I always get recommendations from various readers that I should write a book. My classmates in college, my teachers, professors, my work supervisors, and many other personalities who have read my essays have suggested that I write. I have so many people who have been great influences in my life during this process, especially in the United States. Whites, blacks, mixed, Hispanics, Asians, and American Indians have all been great.

Special thanks to the people of Omaha, Nebraska, where I was raised. Greetings to my Omaha community. I was born in Ambazonia, in Southern Cameroon. My moral lessons came primarily from Cameroon but my broad understanding of the world was obtained while growing up in Omaha. I want to thank my people in both regions for their wonderful contributions to my life. The legal knowledge that I used to spice up this book came from my law education program at Hofstra University’s Maurice A. Deane School of Law. I am extending special acknowledgement to Kim M. Gill, student support advisor there. Her superior, professional service had an impact on me. The nursing and medical knowledge I used to spice up this book came from my Iowa Western Community College nursing program. It also came from ten years of working experience. INTRODUCTION

This book is about a charismatic and vibrant but broken community that was falling apart in a city. The community was influential and charismatic, but it was also full of controversial individuals. They were desperate for leadership and unity, but there was no one strong enough—or willing—to put him- or herself on the front lines to lead. Intelligent and competent people within the community probably had the ability to bring everyone together, but they did not have the courage to do it because of the nature and the complexity of the group. Finally, one young man was called to become its president when it became clear that no one wanted to manage it. This young man was not afraid to take the challenge. He became the leader of these respectable men and women. Against everyone’s expectations, he capably managed, restored, and restructured the community and the people and put them on a path of growth and success. What did this young man do to succeed with the people? What tools did he use? What were his tactics? Were there any? What was his message?

He was so effective, efficient, and successful, in fact, that the same people who had supported him to become president eventually turned against him.

Is it not ironic that the people who initially supported him turned against him when success came?

But what happened? Why did good people turn against someone who meant so much good for his people? What were the motives? Were mistakes made? Who made them? What were the mistakes? Who did what? How does the story end? What happens?

The plot of this story is not what dominates this book. The book is loaded with thought-stimulating anecdotes designed to help the reader think critically about all these issues. The book also contains broad knowledge of other topics designed to educate its readers. It contains anecdotes, opinions, history, love stories, proverbs, and famous quotes. The author uses these things to reinforce certain points while attempting to broaden the reader’s knowledge. Enjoy!

CHAPTER 1

FIGHT BROKE OUT

I hate to start this book with a description of a fight. However, if I do not, you may not grasp the magnitude of the division within the community I am describing. The importance of many things in life can be measured by the amount of time we put into them. The more time we put into something, the more relevance that thing holds for us. I am taking the time to create a description of this fight in order to reveal to you its importance to the community and how it affected the love, problems, and dramas that followed.

For a long time, the atmosphere had been tense among the people in the community. The tension finally exploded at their meeting this day. Grown men and grown
