Making History on the Balance Beam
At the 1976 Olympics, 14-year-old gymnast Nadia Comaneci performed a flawless routine on the balance beam. She’d already earned a perfect score on the uneven bars. Now she had another 10.0 score from the judges. That day she made history. She was the first woman ever to earn a perfect score in Olympic gymnastics.
Nadia inspired a new generation of young athletes. Girls all over the world were eager to try gymnastics, including the balance beam.
