Chapter 1: Introduction to Artificial Intelligence
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a rapidly growing field that has taken the world by storm. It is a branch of computer science that deals with the development of algorithms and systems that can perform tasks that typically require human-like intelligence. AI has the potential to revolutionize the way we live and work, providing new and exciting opportunities for solving complex problems and creating new innovations.
The history of AI can be traced back to the mid-20th century, when the first attempts were made to create machines that could perform tasks that were previously thought to be the exclusive domain of humans. In 1956, the Dartmouth Conference, widely regarded as the birth of AI as a field of study, brought together a group of computer scientists, mathematicians, and engineers to discuss the possibility of creating machines that could think like humans.
In the early days of AI research, the focus was on developing rule-based systems, also known as expert systems. These systems were designed to solve problems by applying a set of rules, much like a human expert would. They were effective in solving problems in well-defined
