Conventional business applications are costly and problematic. The assortment and amount of software and hardware needed to operate them were overwhelming. Companies required an entire team of specialists to operate, protect, modify, set up, analyze, install, and configure them. When this effort is multiplied across numerous applications, it becomes clear to see why it was difficult for small and midsize companies to get customized solutions. This was only possible for larger companies with great IT departments. Improvements in cloud computing have transformed that. Cloud computing has eradicated or restructured many of the features associated with setting up traditional IT infrastructure:

    - Earlier, employees had to email documents back and forth; where at a time, there would be multiple versions of a document saved locally on numerous devices as well as occurrences of employees making changes to their version of the document. Files stored in the cloud with shared permissions are always current, there can be assurance that all employees are working on the same file with similar information.

    - There was always the fear that a natural disaster or an emergency could destroy all the records of a company, since information saved physically in the company’s computers is susceptible to failure or loss. Information saved in the cloud has several more protections.

    - Updates to software used to entail huge expenses after some years, in order to acquire the most recent version of essential programs. There was manual application installation and maintenance on every device. Only the major organizations could employ software developers to develop custom-made software. Security issues and defects might not be resolved for a long time.

    - A specific geographic work location can no longer hinder an employee’s access to information and processes; with the cloud, they can work remotely and still be as productive.

    - Physically backing up data on discs, hard drives, or other devices is no longer necessary.

    - Even though technology professionals are still sought after by companies, there is no longer a need for specialized experts to troubleshoot software and hardware systems, as monotonous activities like installing updates on computers one after another have been removed.

    - Companies no longer have to store groups of servers in equipment rooms
