Business, whether for profit or non-profit, relies on networking and relationships. The quality of the relationships you have - friendships as well as acquaintanceships you maintain - and the connections you create determine your success. The following section clarifies which people one should seek to connect with, and the best strategies for initiating and maintaining relationships. It will also take a hard, practical look at people's underlying motivations, and how your interactions should be guided by those motivations. After exploring the motivations, this section will then explore the rationale behind doing something for nothing; that is, giving before you try to take in any relationship. This is all done in the context of connecting to build better, more effective business. However, in my own personal philosophy, it applies to any relationships at all.
