Networking and Relationship Building
Situation Analysis
Business, whether for profit or non-profit, relies on networking and relationships. The quality of the relationships you have - friendships as well as acquaintanceships you maintain - and the connections you create determine your success. The following section clarifies which people one should seek to connect with, and the best strategies for initiating and maintaining relationships. It will also take a hard, practical look at people's underlying motivations, and how your interactions should be guided by those motivations. After exploring the motivations, this section will then explore the rationale behind doing something for nothing;
that is, giving before you try to take in any relationship. This is all done in the context of connecting to build better, more effective business. However, in my own personal philosophy, it applies to any relationships at all.
Business people can benefit greatly when they start creating these connections. Images and Idols seeks to act as a guide for those individuals and offer ideas that we believe may be helpful. Business attorneys and managers who represented a variety of businesses were consulted at length concerning this project. All said the same thing in the end: that identifying the precise motive
behind the person or business might possibly be a fantastic idea for many individuals and businesses. With that being said, the question becomes: what is the motivation behind the person and/or company you seek to approach for business representation? Many would have you stop here, and with good reason! Knowing people's motivations is a pretty good clue into how you might be able to influence
