Above average in design but very poor in exececution - really pretty designs but few amounts given (ie 4mm crystals, but how many??) and really poor descriptions (make a loop and attach and repeat - hello? attach how? repeat from where? I've no idea how to make that bracelet on their instructions) So unless you are a very experienced or intuitive designer, this gives you ideas but not clear cut ways to carry them out. Also no ratings as to difficulty or time involved. I'm sure that Heidi Boyd is a talented designer -they are pretty - but she's not a good teacher.

As adults we rarely get the chance for a do over,
but with this book I’ve been able to do just that. Of course, I’m thrilled with the success of Simply Beautiful Beading, but I secretly wished I could have squeezed more jewelry into it. And now, my wish has been granted—in this book I have the fabulous opportunity to focus exclusively on jewelry. Beaded jewelry always catches my eye—I admire my friends’ playful collections, discover amazing vintage and designer pieces when relaxing watching television or movies, and take in a huge range of styles when I’m out shopping. All my years of jewelry watching have inspired the projects that fill these pages.
You’ll be amazed by how easy, economical and rewarding it is to create beaded jewelry yourself. In the pages that follow, you’ll find the basic supplies and techniques you need to get started, plus easy-to-follow steps for each project.
Beyond the pride in answering I made it myself
to compliments on your beading, there are many other advantages to custom-made jewelry. You can modify designs to suit your personal style, incorporate your favorite colors and adjust the length of any piece. You’ll also love gifting your friends and family with original beaded jewelry.
There’s never been a better time to become a beading enthusiast. Craft and beading stores are expanding their merchandise to fit the growing market, and there is a spectacular range of beads, crystals, pearls, natural stones and findings to inspire creativity.
9781581807745_0009_002Don’t hesitate to fill your basket with beads next time you’re out shopping. It truly is easy to get started—before long you’ll be showcasing your original beaded creations. There’s no end to the possible color, bead and stringing combinations. Always keep an eye out for new and interesting designs— even as a new beader you’ll be able to go home and enjoy making them yours.

To say there is a wide variety of beads on the market is a vast understatement. In this book, I’ve tried to incorporate as many different varieties as possible, but I’ve only managed to scratch the surface of what’s available. Each time I went shopping I found a new bead that inspired yet another project design. At some point I had to stop; I could have only so many pages in the book. The following is a brief introduction to the different varieties of beads featured in the projects. Please keep in mind that the following photographs are only a sampling; while shopping you’ll find color, finish and size variations within each bead type.

| SEED BEADS | The smallest beads used in this book, glass seed beads are inexpensive and are available in a wide range of colors. They come in lots of different sizes, and the size of their openings also varies. Make sure you select beads that work with the specified needles, beading cord or thread. If you like uniformity and a wider opening, choose the more expensive Delica brand of seed beads. | JAPANESE SEED
