NOTES
Igualmente is an abbreviated way to say Nice to meet you, too.
Vos is used instead of tú in some parts of Central America and also throughout Uruguay and Argentina.
Because Juan is talking to a child, even if they’re meeting for the first time, he is using the informal form of the word you in Spanish, which is tú.

Let Me Introduce You
Key Terms and Phrases
Conversation
NOTES
Juan used the informal te presento when introducing Silvia to everyone because she is his wife. Tú is used between people already familiar with each other and for children (regardless of the duration of the relationship). Juan then used les presento when introducing more than one person to his wife. If he had introduced only one person (whom he’d just met) to his wife, he’d have said le presento instead of les presento.
REMEMBER
Usted is used for people when they first meet (and until more familiarity develops in the relationship). It is also used by anyone younger when speaking to someone older (child to an older person).
Questions
1.How do you know Juan and Silvia are already familiar with each other?
2.Why does Juan use les presento when introducing his two new park acquaintances to his wife?
Answers: 1. Because Juan says te presento when introducing his wife to his new park acquaintances. Te signifies a familiar relationship. 2. Because he’s introducing more than one person to his wife.
