My College Admission Journey – A Lesson in Patience & Faith

I still remember that phase — the stress, the refreshing of websites, the overthinking at 2 AM, and that silent prayer we all say before checking results.
The Hopeful Start: CUET Results
After giving CUET, I was hopeful. I had scored well — around 700 marks — and I did pretty solid in the General Test, English, and my 12th COM. subjects. Like many others, I had my heart set on Delhi University. Not just for the name, but for the vibe, the crowd, the freedom — everything.
The Reality Check: Counselling Rounds
But when the counselling rounds started, reality hit a bit.
I waited… and waited… and finally got a seat in Zakir Hussain College.
Now, it’s not a bad college — but it wasn’t the one I dreamed of. That disappointment? Yeah, it stings. It feels like all those late nights and hours of study didn’t lead where you hoped they would.
But I wasn’t ready to settle. I had also given the IP University entrance exam, where courses like BBA & B.Com (Hons.) were available. I knew that VIPS was one of the best colleges under IPU, and I had my eyes on it.
I waited through the first round, then second, then third…
I saw people around me locking seats in colleges I didn’t want, some settling just because they were tired of waiting.
And honestly? I was tempted too. What if I don’t get anything better? What if I lose this seat and regret it?
But something in me said “Wait.”
Not everything you want will come quickly — but that doesn’t mean it won’t come at all.
And finally… in one of the later round- SLIDING ROUND it happened.
I got VIPS – BBA
The moment I saw that allotment letter… I swear, it wasn’t just relief. It was worth it.
What I’ve Learned – And What You Should Know
- Don’t panic in the first round. The system is slow, but it works — if you’ve worked hard, the result will come.
- Be patient. You’ll see friends moving ahead, posting “admitted!” stories, and you’ll feel left out. Don’t let it shake your confidence.
- Believe in your rank, and believe in yourself.
- Don’t settle too early.
Final Words
Your journey might be different from mine. But the one thing that stays true for all of us is this:
“Trust the process, even when it’s slow. Sometimes the wait becomes the reason the win feels even sweeter.”
And when you finally walk into the college you truly wanted, you’ll thank yourself for not giving up too soon.
