Virus and Malware are the terms that we use in Computer and cyber security. Both of the terms are different. A virus is a type of malware that infects a file or corrupts the data in your system whereas malware is a type of malicious software that destroys a computer when hackers target the user they send an email that represents a phishing attack. In the email they send a suspicious software link that users have to click and download that software in that case their device is infected by malware and the hacker has stolen all the sensitive information. In this article, we will cover the difference between Virus and Malware.
What is Malware?
Malware is a program designed to gain access to computer systems, normally for the benefit of some third party, without the user’s permission. Hackers use malware to infect the victim's computer so that they steal as much sensitive information as possible. All malware is harmful but the goal of the hacker is to make a negative digital footprint on the victim in other words after accessing the victim's information, hackers might ask for money not to spread the sensitive information publically, and if the user is not paid they will spread it on the internet that makes a negative image in the internet. Malware includes computer viruses, worms, Trojan horses, ransomware, spyware and other malicious programs.
Signs of Malware
Here are the Signs of Malware:

- In some cases hackers use users' accounts to send emails in that case if you are infected with malware you see that someone sending emails with your account.
- Application and Software are automatically downloaded into your system.
- You face Freezing and crashing issues with your system.
- System tools that you enabled in your system will automatically disabled.
What is Virus?
A Virus is a malicious executable code attached to another executable file which can be harmful or can modify or delete data. All viruses infect the computer system but the thing is that we have to protect ourselves from viruses by not following third-party emails, never clicking any spam website links, not Downloading software for the third party website, and many more. Spreading a virus should be anywhere on the internet if you download a pdf that contains a virus, if you download your system will be infected or destroyed.

Here are the ways that protect against Malware and Viruses
- The first way to protect ourselves from Malware and Viruses is to protect our devices by putting in strong passwords and not following the emails that come from any third-party person or hackers.
- When we talk about viruses and malware, installation of anti-malware and anti-virus software helps to protect them.
- Don't download any software or third-party website links.
- Update your device and System regularly.
- Don't open any website when the browser says that it is not secure. Always recommended to first check the website URL and then open it. Those website links that start with https are secure and we safely open that website.
- Protect your internet by putting strong passwords, especially wifi, when employees work remotely most of the employees connect with wifi, and putting a strong password for wifi will save both the employee and company data and prevent from hackers.
- If you use antivirus and antimalware software, make sure to update them on time It gives more security features to protect our malware and viruses and to protect our sensitive data.
Examples of Malware vs. Viruses
Here are the examples of malware:-
- Rootkits: Rootlkits is a type of malware that is hard to detect or we can say it is dangerous because it disables the security software in the system. When a rootkit is installed in the system, the admin of the rootkit takes full control of the system they easily change the system configuration and modify and delete the data on the system.
- Emotet: Emotet is a type of malware that spreads through phishing emails where hackers send the email to the targeted user that contains malicious files, and links if a user downloads the files and clicks the links they infect their user system.
- Clop Ransomeware: It is also a type of malware. The word Clop originates from the Russian word Klop which means a bad bug. As the name Bad Bug suggests. The bug that infects the computer. Clop ransomware removes the security of the system and hackers use various techniques to steal the user's confidential data in some cases when the user gives the details then they ask for the payment to not spread your sensitive information publically. When Clop ransomware is installed in a system, it disables the security software present in the system.

When the user clicks that link and puts the information, in that case, hackers steal the information and may sell your data.
