Early Start and Smooth Process

I was among the early interviewees for the SDE position at JPMC, opting to start my day ahead of schedule due to multiple interviews lined up. The process was conducted with ease and the interviewers were quite encouraging.

Technical Interviews:

Round 1: The session began with a quick introduction, followed by a discussion on my machine learning project from my sophomore year. The interviewers sought an easy-to-understand explanation of machine learning, suitable for novices, which led to an in-depth conversation about regression, deep learning, and CNN parameters. The round included two programming problems, one on dynamic programming and the other, which I believe, was related to Trie data structures. We also reviewed a research paper associated with my internship.
Round 2: I detailed my junior year internship project, after which I was tasked with designing a notepad-like application. The features required included word search, editing, and deletion functionalities. My proposed solution met their approval, and I was asked to draft the class structure on paper. We then explored data structures, focusing on doubly linked lists and hash maps. A practical question was posed regarding the tallying of votes from election ballots, for which I initially suggested using Haar - cascade. After some discussion, I elaborated on my approach. The interviewers were interested in my roles and contributions to Alcher, inquiring about the innovative strategies that led to successful outcomes.
Final Round: In a more relaxed setting, a VP informed me of my selection based on positive feedback from the technical rounds. This round was conversational, touching upon topics like mathematics, literature, probability, and life at IIT. The VP also presented a timed mental math challenge.
