Fractions are numerical expressions used to represent parts of a whole or ratios between quantities. They consist of two numbers separated by a horizontal line, where the number above the line is called the numerator and the number below the line is called the denominator.

Example, If a chocolate is divided into 10 equal pieces then each part represents 1/10 ( one-tenth ) of the chocolate. If you get 3 pieces then your share is represented by 3/10 ( three-tenths) and the remaining part is 7/10 (seven-tenths).
