PCB stands for Process Control Block which is a data structure used by an operating system to control information about a process.

In other words, Printed circuit boards (PCBs) are the boards that are used as the base in most electronics both as a physical support piece. They are also used as the wiring area for the socketed and surface-mounted components. They are most generally made with composite epoxy, fiberglass, or any other composite materials. Most PCBs that are used in simple electronics are simple and made up of only a single layer. Hardware like computer motherboards or graphics cards can have multiple layers and can be up to twelve.

History of PCB

In 1936, an Austrian engineer named Paul Eisler invented the printed circuit which is a part of a radio set when he was working in the United Kingdom. After that, they were used by the USA in World War 2 to make proximity fuzes. After World War 2, the USA released the invention for commercial purposes. They get modified years after years and today they are used in many electronic devices.

Characteristics Of PCB

  • Its hall wall technology strengthens its ability
  • Its surface-mounted technology makes components much smaller and assembles on both sides of the board.
  • Its base is made up of hard-quality
  • They are made up of multiple layers and each layer has its characteristics.

Advantages of PCB

  • Tight connections and Short Circuits are Avoided.
  • Low Electronic Noise.
  • Low Cost.
  • Re-workable.
  • Ease of Repair and Diagnostic.
  • Increased life span.
  • High circuit complexity.
  • Reliability.

Disadvantages of PCB

  • Not Good for Fine Pitch
  • It is prone to Thermal Shock
  • Some of the PCB surfaces are expensive

Conclusion

PCB, or Printed Circuit Board, is like the backbone of electronic devices , that holds and connects all the important parts, like resistors and chips, which allows them to communicate with each other and make the device work properly. Without a PCB, electronic gadgets like phones or computers wouldn’t function. In simple terms, a PCB is what keeps everything inside your device organized and ensures it runs smoothly, much like a traffic system guiding cars on the road.
