There's never a dull moment for the residents of Beaumont, South Carolina. Lately, a heat wave's spiked the mercury-and everyone's sex drive! These days, when Jamie runs into Max, it's all she can do not to tear his clothes off-and the feeling is mutual. But trouble seems to follow Max like moths to a flame, and Jamie suspects he's all wrong for her. Meanwhile, the lingerie shop is having a sale on edible underwear, while the bakery's selling aphrodisiac-laced brownies and x-rated birthday cakes. Even Jamie's dog, Fleas, is dodging passes from the amorous French poodle next door! But when someone starts bumping off some of the town's more annoying citizens, all clues lead straight to the new personals section in Jamie's newspaper. Pretty soon, things are getting hot and heavy, as Max and Jamie start uncovering secrets-and undressing each other...
Janet Evanovich is the #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Stephanie Plum series, the Lizzy and Diesel series, twelve romance novels, the Alexandra Barnaby novels and Trouble Maker graphic novel, and How I Write: Secrets of a Bestselling Author, as well as the Fox and O'Hare series with co-author Lee Goldberg.
OMG a Janet Evanovich book with SEX!!!! Real, honest to goodness SEX and not the cozy variety either. This is an honest to goodness Romantic-Suspense and it's WONDERFUL!!! And humor. I loved it and the audio narration was just wonderful. I don't think there is a better narrator than Lorelei King, especially when she does a Janet Evanovich book. She is fantastic. At the end of the audio book is an interview with Janet Evanovich - Priceless!
It's hot in Beaumont, South Carolina and things are getting steamy between Max and Jamie. In addition to the heat there are brownies and X-rated cakes that are loaded with aphrodisiacs, a new X-rated lingerie shop and murder. Someone is murdering the women who are answering Jamie's new personals column. Max and Jamie are on the case and between the sheets.
Fun light reads. Good stuff. I like the characters in these books and I think this series is the better of the non-Plum books. Read the number books first and then stray on over to these once you get a taste for the wonder and wackiness that is Janet Evanovich.
This book was a effin blast! I love Jamie and Max's characters. There's a scene in the book where he whispers in Jamies ear that she will be going with him. It was just hot and I love my dominant males. Its like "yes sir, I will go home with you and you make me do whatever you want" Wait did I just say that aloud. lol. Anyways, the book was not completeley erotic but just love when Max gets that dominant side. Oh and I love me some Muffin. lol. Not that kind of Muffin but don't mind that either. Okay back on subject my randomness is out of control. Muffin is hilarious with her sarcasm and hot mess self. Man I wish I had a talking computer/car with Muffin installed! She would be installed to tell me raunchy jokes and make innapropriate statements! I've been on medicine because of some chronic illnesses so has me a little loopy but what the hell share the love baby. So back to the book, I definetley reccomend this book to someone who is looking for a quick, hilarious and a little bit of something erotic. There is not much scenes that are erotic but theres finally some FIREWORKS! A large amount of people like to compare her other work to Stephanie Plum but this series is its own class. They are both funny series just different. But to each is their own. Whatever tickles your pickle but this book tickled my pickle and lightened my mood so I reccomend it and 5 freakin hilarious stars!
Full of fun and laughs! I didn't see the direction the author was going with the murderer and finished it pretty quick to find out who the culprit was!
A typical JE read. Some humor, some mystery, some romance, and some crazy ott characters. Lorelei King makes these work. Need something light and with some humor.
I really love Janet Evanovich books. When she coauthors, like this one, the humor, the funky adventures and a certain je ne sais quoi leaked out. The identity of the perp who committed the murder was revealed (thank goodness). It was a well assembled puzzle. Overall, the read was just okay. I wanted to like it more.
The library messed up and shelved this in the mystery section. It is a fluffy romance. I did not care for it at all. I am sure as a romance it is typical but it is a feather-weight in the mystery category.
It's easy to root for the starring couple in this chick lite novel, Max and Jamie. They are both unbelievably attractive and crazy for each other. However, a series of murders is getting in their way. Fun times.
I love the connection between Max and Swift. Why fight it? Just go with it….if they could stay out of trouble long enough to see the fireworks fly! When a murder pops up that involves Jamie’s paper, they must get to the bottom of it….ooops…too late, another murder. Great read!
The series has started to grow on me a little bit. This book was kind of fun, a little bit of mystery and suspense, and the fantasy of a regular small town girl peeking into the life of the fabulously wealthy. I like how the romance is being spread out across several books. It always seems kind of silly when the hero and heroine fall in love in a week or two. The fact that Jamie and Max are slowly getting to know each other is much more realistic... Even if nothing else about this series is realistic.
The Full Box is a four-book audio set. I previously listened to and reviewed Full House here on KariAnnAlysis. It was one of the first audio books I listened to. I’ll always turn to Janet Evanovich when I need a good, light read. That’s why I was thrilled when I found the rest of this series in a complete box.
Here’s a short synopsis of each book:
Full Tilt: Jamie Swift’s newspaper is running on fumes. If something doesn’t turn around soon, she will have to stop the presses. Her silent partner Max Holt comes to town to lend her a helping hand, but he also brings more danger than has already hit Beaumont, SC. Someone is after Holt, most likely for his money, but he’s not the only one with a secret admirer. Frankie Fontana, former pro-wrestler, is running for mayor and he has also been receiving threats. In true Evanovich fashion, cars will explode, buildings will be blown up and a killer or two will be stopped in their tracks.
Full Speed: Things are heating up between Jamie and Max. They tracked down Fontana’s stalker, and got a track on Max’s….a popular minister who Max turned down for a deal. So Jamie and Max, separately, hit the road. Max wants to stop the minister in his tracks and Jamie wants to crack the story of a lifetime, with her new dog Fleas in the bed of her old jalopy truck. Jamie gets into character, and undercover, to get up close and personal with the man after her man.
Full Blast: The final book in the Full series doesn’t let down in the drama department. Jamie is back in Beaumont where a new, controversial lingerie store has opened in the very religious conservative town. Oh and aphrodisiac brownies are being sold at the local bakery. It seems love is in the air in Beaumont. But murder is also in the air and it all seems to lead back to Jamie’s new personals ads that she has started in the newspaper. So once again, she has to turn her journalistic powers on high so it’s not her newspaper making front page news!
My thoughts on this series are up and down like a roller coaster. I absolutely loved Full House. I loved the characters and the action. I expected more of Nick and Billie in the series, but did not get them. Instead, the books branch out to others in town. The only ones who make appearances in the rest of the books are Frankie and his wife DeeDee. They are a funny pair, but I wasn’t connected to them like I was Nick and Billie. I loved their chemistry and hoped to follow up with them. I do like Jamie and Max. They are the traditional, fight against the odds, fight against the chemistry couple. When will people just start giving in and getting on with love?
I do love the action of this series and feel a connection with Jamie for her work in the journalism business.
Like all Evanovich books, the Full series keeps you turning pages. The books are fun and action packed and the thing I love about them the most is that Evanovich always thinks up the greatest, silliest characters that you can’t help but love and laugh with.
My favorite book in the series was definitely Full Blast. I loved the plot with the personals ads being the grounds for the murders, but also the little steamy side plots of the dirty little lingerie store and the brownies that make you go to a deep-dark dirty place. Oh it’s so dirty! I give Full Blast 5 bookmarks.
I give Full Tilt 4 bookmarks. I loved that characters from the previous book were brought back and the new ones that were brought to life. I loved the sexual tension between Jamie and Max. But the first book set such a high bar to follow.
And I give Full Speed 3 bookmarks. I didn’t hate this book, but I definitely didn’t love it as much as the others. Normally, I’m all about mobsters, but in this
I'm most fond of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum mysteries and usually the "Full" series falls a bit short. This 4th installment, however, comes close with the quirky characters you grow so attached to, that Janet Evanovich is famous for.
So far, Full Blast is the funniest and steamiest in the series. There's certainly a couple parts you want to be sure to read by yourself, if you're prone to blushing!
A steamy romance, over-the-top characters, a car that costs 2 Million and has a talking computer that sounds like Marilyn Monroe, a couple vintage Mustangs, a well-endowed psychic, an ice-cream eating dog named Fleas ... all this and it's a murder myster, believe it or not! Pretty funny.
This was also the first of the series that I listened to the Audio version. The reader, Lorelei King, is fantastic. She really knows how to separate the quirky characters and really bring them to life.
Fun read. . I love the characters in these books almost as more as the Plum books. Janet Evanovich is easily one of my favorite writers. She makes me laugh with her character hijinks and romance.
Full Blast does not disappoint. Holt, Jamie and Max have to battle raging hormones, a heat wave, a murderous villain, and non-stop attraction for each other in a novel where it’s not just the air conditioners going full blast!
This book was quite an easy and quick read; it just took me a little to actually be motivated to pick it up. However I loved the blend of romance and mystery - it was cute!! I also have to say that although I hadn’t read the books that came before this one I could actually follow along really well which is a great plus :)
FULL BLAST by Janet Evanovich RATING: 4.5/B+ GENRE/PUB DATE/# OF CDS: Mystery, 2004, 6 CD's TIME/PLACE: Present, South Carolina CHARACTERS: Jamie Swift/journalist COMMENTS: Fun book, good narrator. Women are being killed possibly connected to the personal ads.
This was another fun quick Evanovich read. The mystery here is closer to home than in the previous book, and it looks like Max and Jamie might actually be getting more serious. Not a lot of substance here, but enough fun to keep me reading!
Not as funny as she can be, and I think I would have liked it better had I read it. I didn't like the voices the reader used. I would have used different ones in my head.
I like the story development between Max and Jamie. The plot line in this one is a little far-fetched, but still it's fun.
This has Jamie and Max chasing after a killer that has targeted women answering a personal ad from Jamie's newspaper. There's lots of fun and quirky situations.
I enjoyed the 4th in this "Full" series by Evanovich. Max Holt is sexy as always and the mystery the town was facing grabbed my attention. It was a quick read and I liked seeing the relationship between Max and Jamie Swift develop.
As much as I like the Stephanie Plum series, I was not AT ALL convinced by Full Blast. I found the characters boring, the dialogue awkward and the plot predictable -- not what I would expect from Janet Evanovich!
Another 'Full' book I didn't like. Call me slow because I read most of them before quiting. They are quick quick reads that you could finish while waiting for the doctor.
