Troubleshoot an issue with Google Cast on VIZIO TVs

Hello,

There is a known issue with the Google Cast feature on certain VIZIO TV models from 2016-2020. We are actively working to roll out a fix on all affected TVs in early May, with no action required from you.

In the coming days, all impacted users can manually apply the fix by updating the software on their VIZIO TV. You can check to see if the update is already available for your TV by following the steps below. Please continue to check the Community page here for updates.

 

1. To verify if Cast is working on your TV, attempt to cast an app.

2. If Cast does not work, press the menu button on your VIZIO remote and choose All Settings > Admin & Privacy > Check for Updates. A message will appear asking if you’re sure you’d like to check for updates, choose the Yes option.

a. For some older VIZIO models the steps may differ. If you do not see the above settings try System > Check for Updates

3. Your TV will search for updates.

a. If your TV finds an update, please let it fully download before continuing.

b. If your TV does not find an update, don’t worry, it likely has the latest software.

4. Once you’ve completed checking for updates, press the menu button on your VIZIO remote and choose All Settings > Admin & Privacy > Restart TV. A message will appear asking if you would like to restart your TV, choose Yes.

a. For some older VIZIO models the steps may differ. If you do not see the above settings try System > Reboot TV

b. Note: do not select “Restore to Factory” as this might override the fix.

5. After your TV fully powers down, and restarts, you should be able to cast again.

I know I have an LG C4 but with Chromecast built in. Shows up as a mess in Google home, and then I can't put this in a speaker group although I can play music through it by casting to it. So I don't get it. Seems I should be able to do this. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a Toshiba CT-RC2US-18 that is currently not casting any apps...but says* it is on my phone and the tv is connected...i have rebooted/restarted/all of the above and nothing is working lol help!  

It randomly started working last night after I was debating getting roku...lol idk!!

This Google nest is hacked to my account they say threw speakers I can access their Google nest but it talks about a speaker how could a speaker be connected to my phone I believe they are connected to my WiFi is there any help for me and this is a problem with about continuing disruption it said in suggestions at the bottom South Korea telecom cation  Thank-you I have no Google nest so this connection should be on my account

This is a hacked account please check out there wifi connection it is connected to Spectrum which is my carrier my name is Teresa Johnston I'm sure you will find my name connected this is how I got here Google told me it was a Google speaker I sent the info to Google they showed me how the connection may be that is a problem with this Vizio TV please don't hook up until you check this information.Thank-you, Teresa Johnston #
