America's Oldest Wine Shop & the World’s Leading Wine and Spirits Auction House
About us
Now in its third century of business, established in 1820, Acker is the oldest and most respected wine shop in America, the largest global wine auction house, and the preeminent destination for fine wine and spirits worldwide. A true one-stop-shop for expert wine services in every form, Acker’s culture is deeply rooted in customer service, upholding a commitment to the highest standards, applied across a vast array of amenities including a world-class wine club, fine wine retail inventory, a wine concierge service, advisement on wine as an investment, cellar consultations and appraisals, first-class wine education programs, bespoke events and tastings, corporate business services, and its crown jewel, global fine and rare wine and spirits auctions. In 2008, only ten years after its first auction in New York City, Acker became the first auction house to recognize the growing thirst for wine in Asia and held its first Asia sale on May 31st, 2008 in Hong Kong. In 2011, Acker cemented its position at the top of the wine auction market by being the first wine auction firm to exceed US$100 million in revenue between all of its affiliates, setting hundreds of world records for wine throughout the year in the process. It crossed the $1 billion mark in auction revenue in 2018. With affiliated companies in Hong Kong, New York City, Tokyo, London, and further expansion on the horizon, Acker hosts “live” auctions every month, and has a constantly running internet auction, providing its clients constant access to the world’s best wines and spirits. Today, it is the world’s largest wine auction house, atop the wine auction market in revenue earnings for the majority of the past decade. Its name is synonymous with personalized, polished, and expert services in all areas of wine and spirits.

The first half of 2025 has been a period of real change for the fine wine market. Geopolitical shifts, new tariffs, and a weaker dollar have all played a part, yet Acker saw auction volume rise by 20% and retail sales grow by 8%. What really stood out was the strong demand for older vintages—especially pre-1990—which saw significant price appreciation, while newer releases faced more resistance and downward price pressure. Regionalization is also becoming more pronounced, with collectors increasingly buying and selling within their own markets. Acker’s recent Switzerland auction is a good example, drawing strong interest from European and Asian buyers. For a closer look at these trends and what they could mean for collectors and investors, read the full Acker Market Insights report: https://lnkd.in/em3PPuBm #ackerwines #wine #wineauction #wineinvestment #winemarket #finewine

What a debut. Acker’s first-ever Swiss auction in Zurich was a celebration from start to finish—achieving over $5M in sales, setting more than 46 world records for domaine-direct producers, and and welcoming nearly half of all bidders as first-time buyers. Three standout lots: 🔹Dagueneau Pouilly Fumé Asteroide (Lots 798 & 800) 🔹1947 Château L’Étoile Vin de Paille (Lot 858) 🔹Duroché Clos de Bèze Jeroboam 2015 (Lot 832) Top honors went to six magnums of Château Pétrus, with strong showings from DRC, Bordeaux, and rare Domaine-direct gems that ignited bidding across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. Thank you to the collectors, producers, and wine lovers who made this inaugural moment unforgettable, and to the many new faces who joined the Acker family. 🍷 Full recap + top 10 lots here → https://lnkd.in/gwt6gVrg #ackerwines #wine #wineauction #finewine #rarewine #ackerswitzerland
