"Why are YOU here?" How many of us have ever heard that, or have been made to feel that way in an important executive meeting? Unfortunately, it’s an experience many of us have faced. I’m deeply thankful to Jean Hu, CFO of AMD, for sharing her own experiences and how she responded to and grew from situations like these. Last week, Jean joined our Women and Gender Minority group at Ayar Labs for an open discussion where she generously offered her authentic stories, support, and wisdom, reminding us what it means to lead with strength and intention. She shared: 1. Leadership is about claiming the space you deserve. It’s also about helping others do the same. Empower your team. Take up space. Lead boldly. 2. Growth mindset is essential. Keep learning, keep improving, keep evolving. Embrace failure as part of the process. 3. Focus matters. Stay centered on your goals, your integrity, and your path forward. I’ve been interested in Ayar Labs for a long time given their pioneering work on one of the most critical technologies for the next era of computing: co-packaged optics (CPO). Today, I’m honored to share that I’ve joined their board of directors. As AI and HPC push the limits of traditional copper interconnects, Ayar Labs is leading the transition to CPO, which will enable the massive gains in bandwidth, latency, and power efficiency that AI infrastructure demands. One of the things that has impressed me most is their deep focus on building out the ecosystem. They’ve been putting everything in place to manufacture CPO in volume. Exactly what the industry needs to make this critical shift. CEO Mark Wade and I had a great fireside chat on this very topic earlier today as part of our visit to Taiwan. I'll share some highlights from our discussion in the coming weeks but suffice it say: I couldn’t be more excited to be working with him and the Ayar Labs team!
