  • City of Newport News Human Resources, Human Services, and Four Oaks Day Center were honored to participate in the “Homeless Veteran Stand Down” event—dedicated to supporting homeless Veterans, their families, and those at risk of homelessness. We extend our sincere appreciation to the Hampton VA Medical Center (VAMC) and the City of Hampton’s Military Affairs Committee (MAC) for the invitation to take part in this meaningful and impactful community initiative. The event brought together a wide range of resources, agencies, Veterans organizations, and community partners offering essential support and services. Attendees had access to transportation, meals, showers, haircuts, clothing, VA medical services, flu shots, community resources, employment and job search assistance, residential treatment, and housing placement for homeless and at-risk Veterans. This collaborative event, open to the entire community, once again demonstrated the power of partnership, compassion, and commitment in improving the lives of our Veterans.
