𝗖𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗮𝗽𝗲𝗿𝘀: 𝗘𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗰𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗼𝗽𝗵𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘇𝗲𝗱 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵𝗻𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 Decentralised technologies are no longer experimental curiosities. They have already reshaped distributed systems, identity management, game-theoretic design and economic models. Yet the values and philosophies of decentralised systems remain tangled and deeply contested. Are these cypherpunk tools that resist centralised power, or new configurations of monopolistic digital platforms? As digital infrastructures reorganise society and power, the role of decentralised protocols within this landscape remains far from settled. Together with the journal Ethics and Information Technology (Springer), we invite submissions to a special collection on “Ethics and Philosophy of Decentralized Technologies” edited by Georgy Ishmaev and Patrik Hummel. We welcome philosophically informed work on decentralized systems in a broad sense, including blockchain, decentralized finance and governance, decentralized identity, and even decentralized AI, from any philosophical tradition. Possible topics include, among others: • Systems and critical infrastructures in digital society. How should we characterize blockchain networks as critical infrastructure, in both descriptive and normative terms • Making ethical considerations salient to designers and users, bridging gaps between technical analysis and philosophical frameworks • Privacy and identity, ethical implications of decentralized identity solutions, privacy enhancing tools, and reputation protocols. • Incentives and their mechanisms, stewardship, duties, unintended consequences such as externalities and collusion • Information asymmetries, opacity, moral hazard and epistemic injustice in crypto ecosystems • Cultures and coordination in crypto communities, myths, memes, accidental cults and risks of charismatic domination • Moral responsibility and accountability in infrastructures that resist unilateral control, including kill switches, safety valves, exit rights and trust minimisation 📝 Submission deadline: 23 April 2026 📚 Journal: Ethics and Information Technology, hybrid publishing model 🔗 More information and submission link: https://lnkd.in/ejfaxzMT If this speaks to your work in political or moral philosophy, philosophy of technology, philosophy of law or related areas, we would be very happy to receive your submission and for you to share the call with colleagues and networks. #CallForPapers #Ethics #PhilosophyOfTechnology #Blockchain #Web3 #Decentralization
