“I was impressed by and truly enjoyed making connections across the technical community – industry, government, academia — during my recent trip to Korea. I had the opportunity to meet technology leaders from ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute), KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology and Samsung, and was able to discuss current and future collaborations, and witness the results and some of their achievements in advancing technology. We also had the opportunity to consider how disruptive technologies are transforming our world and the possibilities for new thinking and new approaches to shape technology for a better tomorrow. I was also able to deliver a special lecture “Envisioning the Future of Artificial Intelligence” for the students at KAIST. Then I was not only welcomed by the #IEEE Seoul Section, but had the opportunity to participate in a IEEE Seoul Section Young Professionals Round Table. I feel truly energized about what we can achieve through global collaboration.” - Kathleen A. Kramer, 2025 IEEE President & CEO

International Computer Security Day is observed to raise awareness about the importance of staying safe online. As more of our personal data is stored in the digital realm, it can be increasingly difficult to protect. But this day serves as a reminder that simple steps can go a long way in protecting yourself against cyber threats. Updating passwords, turning on two-factor authentication wherever possible and updating software can make all the difference in protecting some of your most important information.

Confidence in AI as an educational tool is dropping. While it can be an incredible way to augment the learning experience, it is often used to find easy answers without gaining an understanding of the subject matter. How can this trend be reversed? It’s all about deployment, encouraging critical thinking and learning processes, rather than just final answers. Cryptocurrency is often associated with volatility. For example, 10,000 bitcoin would buy $41 worth of pizza in 2010. Today, that would be worth closer to $1 billion. Stablecoins are entering the picture to shift this paradigm, combining the stability of traditional assets with the security and efficiency of blockchain currencies. While stablecoins are not 100% stable, they are quickly becoming a place to efficiently manage money.
