We had the pleasure of having Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso on The Bells I Hear. In this powerful and engaging episode, he dives into his journey from growing up in the Southside of Williamsburg to becoming the first Latino and first Dominican to hold the office of Borough President in NYC. Moreover, BP Reynoso discusses how government support positively impacted both him and his family and greatly influenced his decision to become elected official. He’s on a mission to pay it forward, so that New Yorkers take full advantage of all the resources and opportunities available to them. At our most recent Career Day event, we were grateful to have Christine Veschi lead an engaging financial literacy workshop for our students. Drawing on her extensive background in investor relations and global community services, Christina introduced key concepts such as budgeting, saving, and credit through real-world examples that made the content accessible for our students. Christina's warm and thoughtful approach helped our students feel comfortable and confident about asking questions and envisioning a stronger financial future for themselves. Her workshop not only built practical money management skills but also inspired our youth to see financial literacy as a pathway to stability, independence, and long-term opportunity. We want to thank Christina for pouring into our students and empowering them to take meaningful steps towards their goals. #EmpoweringYouth #EducationMatters #FinancialLiteracy

People don’t fall into homelessness. They are pushed. CBS Sunday morning highlighted the issue of people working full time while (invisibly) homeless. Brian Goldstone & several amazing folks who share their stories highlight the way that the system is set up to push people into homelessness & keep them trapped in usurious extended stay hotels. It is worth contemplating how the admin removing the ability to use permanent subsidies for so many experiencing homelessness because it says that everyone should work—neglecting that many have work-limiting disabilities—but even if not. It would look like this. Watch the clip. It is well worth your time. Read Brian’s incredible book “There is no place for us.” And speak up against all of those who criminalize poverty & homelessness & ignore its racist roots. https://lnkd.in/gzhUCJvX

At Mentor A Promise, we believe career exposure can spark lifelong transformation. This month, we hosted our second Career Day at our partner site in Manhattan, where Dr. Benjamin Ahn shared his journey in dentistry. In this session, our students gained exposure to careers in oral health and medicine and had an opportunity to ask questions and envision new possibilities for their future. We know that hands-on demonstrations and one-one-one conversations can open up doors for our students experiencing housing instability, allowing them to see that their dreams are well within reach. We're always looking to partner with professionals and organizations that want to inspire the next generation. If you're interested in inviting our students and hosting our next Career Day, we'd love to hear from you! 🌟 #CareerDay #YouthEmpowerment #BreakingTheCycle
