Kingfisher quietly crossed 1.6 million Docker pulls 🤯 (all in the past ~45 days). That's pretty surreal to me, for something that started as a side project to help me detect and validate leaked secrets across large systems and repos. I'm not much of a marketer (I'm a security engineer), so I'll just say this: I'm genuinely happy people find Kingfisher useful in real workflows. 🔍 What people seem to like about it Kingfisher scans for secrets pretty much anywhere they like to hide. When it launched this summer, it supported scanning only files/dirs, local Git repos, GitHub, and GitLab. Since then, support has grown to Bitbucket, Azure Repos, Gitea, Hugging Face, Docker images, S3, GCS, Jira, Confluence, and Slack. And because Kingfisher validates the secrets it finds, teams get clear, accurate signals about which credentials are actually live, reducing noise and helping them focus on what truly needs rotation. ⚡ Why it works well in practice It's extremely fast and accurate thanks to being written in Rust and powered by Hyperscan, a SIMD-optimized regex engine that can chew through gigabytes per second. In practice, Kingfisher is often an order of magnitude faster than other secret-scanning tools. I haven't found another scanner which performs live secret validation that comes anywhere close to this speed.
