We're more than halfway through the Techstars accelerator and it has been a blast! At ORBES, we believe robots should take on the most dangerous and expensive tasks in space. We're starting by building space drones to increase safety and reduce manual labor required for filming and inspection in space stations. We live the ethos of "Do more, faster" every day as we're: - Strategizing hardware product development and go to market at mentor magic (shoutout lead mentors Joe Winograd and Jeffrey Spitzer!) - Talking to industry players at CO & DC space events - Presenting at San Diego startup week as a Top 30 Startup - Meeting mentors, investors and fellow startups at LA Tech Week - Talking to space stations, flight controllers, and the human spaceflight ecosystem at IAC in Sydney - and burning the midnight oil in our hardware lab in Arcadia📍 Thank you everyone who has been a part of the journey 💚 #Techstars #Startup #SpaceStartup

Catch our CEO Anna Shaposhnik at IAC 2025 and check out our VR demo and model of the ORB robot. We want to help space stations focus on the science by automating routine operations. We'd love to talk to astronauts and mission control operators directly to get feedback on our dashboard, please book a meeting here: https://lnkd.in/gjxRtNge or reach out to Anna Shaposhnik. You can also find Anna after her paper presentation happening October 1st at 3 pm in Room C2.2. See you down under! #iac2025 #iac #internationalastronauticalcongress #iacsydney #iac25

Beautiful shot Blue Origin! Congratulations 🎉 ORBES is on a mission to make this possible for all kinds of space missions. Our free-flying camera drone will capture never-before possible shots inside and outside the space station, stabilized and with cinematic quality. Seeing every aspect of spaceflight is crucial for both validating the success of your mission and sharing it with the world. The future of space media is here. #StorytellingGoneWeightless ➡️ https://lnkd.in/g7PEhgjX

Astronauts spend around 100 hours/week on maintenance and only 20-40 hours on science tasks. Robots have the opportunity to revolutionize how we conduct space station operations, saving millions of dollars per year. Past government projects like SPHERES, Astrobee, Cimon, and Int-Ball laid the foundation for free-flying assistants. But no commercial solution exists yet to support the future private space stations. Enter ORB. We are building a robot assistant to offload the manual labor of inspection and filmmaking inside (and later outside) space stations. Last month we conducted our first Critical Design Review with industry veterans after a 3-month build sprint. Next up, we will re-spin a second iteration, conduct ground based testing and prepare for a zero-gravity flight. More soon. #SpaceRobotics #StorytellingGoneWeightless 📍at Null Space Lab's, LA's oldest hackerspace (https://032.la/)

ORBES is thrilled to be selected for the Techstars San Diego powered by San Diego State University program. Techstars is one of the world’s most selective accelerator programs, with an acceptance rate of less than 1%, and alumni having raised more than $27B globally. Techstars mentorship, network, and capital will greatly accelerate our business and help bring our ORB space robots to market. We are grateful for Gabriel Schlumberger, Misti Cain, and Tim Grace for the welcoming interview process. ORBES is honored to support PARABOLES — the first-ever multimedia performance in zero gravity. Visionary showmaker Natasha Tsakos has captivated global audiences at the Super Bowl, TED, Cirque du Soleil, Tribeca Film Festival, the G20 Summit, and the United Nations. Now, she’s pushing the boundaries of performance art in space. “This is not a stunt. It’s a profound reimagining of form and content, for a new frontier.” Backed by Massachusetts Institute of Technology Space Exploration Initiative, Zero-G, Live Arts Miami, and O Cinema, PARABOLES lifts off aboard a parabolic plane this Fall: 25 parabolas. 3 performers. 2 videographers. 22 seconds of weightlessness per arc — captured in real-time. This is just the beginning. Filmmakers will need new tools to create in microgravity. Natasha will help us test ORBES first prototype of a new tool for filmmaking in zero-gravity — equipped with a Blackmagic Design Micro Studio Camera G2. We're proud to help usher in a future where the Theatrical Arts flourish alongside the space sector. Be the first.
