After weeks of researching how our team at PostHog builds AI-powered features, I published a deep dive on how to do this successfully. Here’s the process I discovered for the first step of choosing what to build: 1. Learn the patterns AI is good at. A bunch of smart people have already figured out effective AI patterns you can copy. These have the advantage of being UX patterns that users are familiar with, while also being functionality AI is actually good at. Copy them. 2. Identify problems that AI might solve. Go through your product and figure out the jobs to be done that AI could potentially do, such as a well-defined task, places where users need to use an language or interface they don’t understand, or something they do 20+ times. 3. Validate the problem is specific and valuable. You probably don’t need “chat to your docs” in an early-stage product. AI also can’t one shot making you a billion dollars, solve a narrower problem first. Once you’ve done these three, you’re ready to start implementation. I’ve written tips for this (and beyond) in my post on what we’ve learned about building AI-powered features → https://lnkd.in/gdqvrm3W
