  • Aetherios has been found! On April 26th, 2025, members of the team located Aetherios in the Mojave Desert after a ballistic descent. The rocket was not recovered in flight condition, but Anathema, the regeneratively cooled liquid engine powering Aetherios, can be flown again. This project has been an amazing learning opportunity for the team, providing valuable experience through every high and low. We cannot wait to share the future with you all as we lift off from the monumental moment

  • Aetherios has launched! On April 19th, Aetherios reached an impressive altitude of 30,640 feet. The SDSU Rocket Project pushed the limits with its most powerful rocket ever, more than doubling our club's altitude record. The vehicle also hit a top speed of Mach 1.5, making it one of the fastest rockets in the club’s history. This flight marks the first rocket launch by the SDSU Rocket Project in five years, a monumental milestone in the club’s legacy. While the launch was a success, recovery did not go as planned, resulting in a potential ballistic descent. The team is actively working to recover all components of the rocket to fully understand the cause of the anomaly. We deeply appreciate everyone who has supported us throughout this journey. This achievement would not have been possible without the countless hours from our team, the dedication of our leadership, the guidance of alumni, the support of SDSU staff, and the generous contributions from our sponsors.

  • Last week, the team showcased the finished liquid rocket, Aetherios. We appreciate everyone who came to support the team; this would not have been possible without your dedication. The launch of Aetherios is planned for April 19th, which is only three days away! We will continue to share updates as we approach this exciting milestone.

  • We are thrilled to announce the successful static hot fire of our newest liquid rocket, Aetherios. On March 15th, Aetherios completed an 18-second burn, delivering an average thrust of 963 lbf. The team is gearing up for another static hot fire in two weeks, paving the way for an upcoming launch later this semester—stay tuned!
