- [Instructor] You must be aware of the Open RAN frameworks and how it is transforming the telecom industry. In this session, we'll talk about the Open RAN security architecture. But let us first understand how the Open RAN is built up. Open RAN splits RAN into different components such as RU, DU, and CU. Then they're connected with different open interfaces. It supports multi-vendor setup and intelligent control through RIC. Think of this as you're making RAN more intelligent, more smart. The key security focus includes the RIC, which comprise of non-realtime and near-realtime communication. It runs the AI machine-learning logic, so you have to secure all that, what's going on inside RIC. Then we have interfaces such as A1, E2, and F1. You need to use TLS or IPSec to block spoofing or injection attacks. You also see open fronthaul interfaces. It needs hardware level protection for better security.
