📰The Landmark Lactoferrin Trial That Changed Everything: effera™ Demonstrates No Alloimmune Response After years of development, months of clinical work, and decades of scientific questions, Helaina finally had real evidence: human-identical lactoferrin does not trigger the immune response that bovine lactoferrin does. This watershed moment, captured in Peterson's 2024 study published in the International Journal of Toxicology, settled a major safety question about recombinant human lactoferrin. The results didn't just validate effera™, they revealed something unexpected about bovine lactoferrin that had never been tested in humans before. Computational approaches require usable, machine accessible data. But what is a data point or a model output without context? As we move towards more cross-disciplinary work in the environmental health sciences space, increased development of supporting standards and terminology is critical to support smarter use and reuse. Listen in and see what we are doing to support this effort.
Join us Wednesday, November 12 (3:00–4:30 PM ET) as Dr. David Hines of RTI International presents “Data Interoperability in Toxicology: Supporting Source-to-Outcome Assessment.” Hosted by the Society of Toxicology’s Risk Assessment Specialty Section (RASS) and co-sponsored by the Computational Toxicology Specialty Section (CTSS), this NIEHS-funded work demonstrates how interoperable data ecosystems can connect exposure, dosimetry, and biological modeling to strengthen evidence-based risk assessment and decision making. 📅 Wednesday, Nov 12 | 3:00–4:30 PM (ET) Register here: https://ow.ly/Blmr50XnMZX

Small structures. Big insights. The micronucleus may be one of the smallest components within a cell — yet it holds powerful clues about a compound’s potential to damage our genetic material. In our latest article, we explore the fascinating science behind micronucleus formation and its critical role in genotoxicity testing. Understanding how and why micronuclei appear isn’t just a technical detail — it’s a cornerstone of predictive toxicology, helping us assess chemical safety long before exposure occurs. 🔗 Dive into the mechanisms, implications, and applications of the micronucleus assay in modern toxicology: 👉 https://lnkd.in/eKPZcgrJ #Genotoxicity #MicronucleusAssay #InVitroToxicology #PredictiveScience #GenEvolutioN

We’re pleased to share our latest paper in Regulatory Toxicology and Pharmacology, produced in collaboration with Labcorp. This study evaluates several defined approaches (DAs) for predicting human skin sensitisation potential using chemicals previously untested in New Approach Methodologies (NAMs). The findings contribute valuable insight into the performance and applicability of these non-animal methods and support ongoing efforts to advance regulatory acceptance of NAMs. 🔗 Read the full paper (free access until 19 December): https://buff.ly/WtirTWz #CollaboratorSpotlight - Darren Kidd

Marketed in a variety of colorful and misleading packaging, highly potent and dangerous semi-synthetic opioid NPS derived from Kratom have flooded the consumer herbal supplement market. Our team is proud to announce the completion of our work to introduce a new Certified Reference Material of Mitragynine Pseudoindoxyl enabling accurate quantification.
🚨 A Certified Reference Material for Mitragynine Pseudoindoxyl is now available from Cayman Chemical! Mitragynine pseudoindoxyl is a highly potent semi-synthetic opioid being discovered in newly marketed "kratom"-related products. It is also formed in human plasma through the rearrangement of 7-hydroxy mitragynine (7-HMG), a metabolite of the primary alkaloid found in kratom. Cayman is proud to provide the first Certified Reference Material (CRM) for this emerging substance of concern, enabling accurate quantitative analysis for forensic toxicology and analytical research. 🔗 Learn more and access the CRM here: https://loom.ly/j1n5lyU #CRM #ForensicToxicology #EmergingDrugs

🚨 Cayman Chemical has just introduced a new Certified Reference Material of Mitragynine Pseudoindoxyl (Item: 44084), related to 7-hydroxy mitragynine (aka 7-OH). There are reported increases of overdoses related to 7-OH. This CRM is relevant and another tool to assist scientists with their testing and research into this class of opioids.
