Building India's Energy Self-Reliance Through Collaboration. India’s energy landscape is evolving rapidly. As demand rises and the call for cleaner, reliable, and affordable energy grows louder, achieving true Atmanirbharta or energy self-reliance, has never been more critical. But self-reliance doesn’t mean isolation. It means building an ecosystem where industry, research, government, and communities work together to harness domestic resources responsibly and efficiently. When we talk about unconventional hydrocarbons, especially Coal Bed Methane (CBM), collaboration is not optional, it’s essential. Unlocking India’s CBM potential requires advanced technologies, infrastructure, and skilled manpower capabilities no single organization can deliver alone. At Essar Oil and Gas Exploration and Production Ltd, we view collaboration as a strategic pillar of growth. Our efforts include: - Partnering with IITs and global leading research institutions to drive technological innovation in CBM extraction. - Working alongside industry peers and government agencies to strengthen India’s domestic gas infrastructure. - Investing in community skill development and local employment, ensuring that growth is both inclusive and sustainable. India’s Green Hydrogen Roadmap: How We’re Building the Future Green hydrogen is no longer just an idea—it’s central to India’s clean energy plan. The National Green Hydrogen Mission aims to achieve by 2030: ⚡ 5 million tonnes/year green hydrogen production—fueled by ~125 GW of new renewable energy capacity. ⚡Over ₹ 8 lakh crore in investments and 600,000+ jobs across the value chain. ⚡Reduction in fossil fuel imports to the tune of ₹ 1 lakh crore, and cutting nearly 50 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions. Key to this will be: developing Green Hydrogen Hubs, fast-tracking electrolyzer manufacturing, clear policy incentives, and strong regulation & infrastructure (power transmission, storage). The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has officially recognised three major ports — Deendayal Port Authority, Kandla (Gujarat), V.O.Chidambaranar Port Authority (Tamil Nadu), and Paradip Port Authority (Odisha) — as Green Hydrogen Hubs under the National Green Hydrogen Mission (NGHM). The move represents a key step towards establishing an integrated #Hydrogen ecosystem and accelerating India’s transition to clean energy. Strengthening India’s Hydrogen Ecosystem Launched by the Government of India, the National Green Hydrogen Mission aims to position the country as a global hub for the production, utilisation, and export of #GreenHydrogen and its derivatives. The initiative seeks to develop large-scale hydrogen hubs serving as focal points for production and consumption, thereby enabling a #Sustainable and competitive hydrogen economy. Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal welcomed the development, stating, “This recognition marks a defining moment in India’s maritime journey as we transition to become a modern, capable and leader in the global maritime segment.
