Good to speak with Charles Avery from New Private Markets about our evolving approach to climate action at La Caisse (Caisse de dépôt et placement du Québec). With the launch of our 2025–2030 Climate Strategy, we’re broadening our ambition: from green investments and transition financing to a more rigorous focus on nature-based solutions, climate adaptation, and enabling technologies. We’re especially excited to deepen our work in sustainable agriculture and climate resilience, while also supporting the enablers of climate solutions—those essential but often overlooked contributors to the transition. OneEarth Climate Week 2025 Key Takeaways: 1. The Fierce Opportunity of Now Breakthroughs in renewable energy and mobility are real, yet many solutions still move in isolation. A whole-systems approach is needed to align investment with what the planet truly needs. 2. Climate Finance: Progress, Then Priorities Our Minding the Gaps report shows strong momentum, but funding flows toward a narrow set of well-known technologies. The future depends on broadening support across the full range of solutions. 3. Nature Is Still the Missing Pillar Nature Conservation remains underfunded despite its essential role in climate stability. Indigenous stewardship continues to deliver powerful results, yet community-led work still lacks durable support. 4. Agriculture: The Gap Beneath Our Feet Food and land systems can become a climate solution when soils and working landscapes are restored. Farmers, especially women, are central to this transformation and need greater access to resources. 5. The Call to Act Collectively Disconnection is the real barrier. To close finance gaps, we must also close human gaps, linking funders, scientists, Indigenous leaders, farmers, and communities to act together.

During Scotland's Climate Week Scotland Beyond Net Zero and Scottish Funding Council co-organised an event on 'Tackling the Climate Emergency', which we were proud to be part of. Professor Baukje de Roos discussed transforming food systems to be sustainable and healthy; Professor Nick Forsyth chaired a panel of major research councils to discuss their commitment to supporting transdisciplinary research that include arts, humanities and sciences to tackle climate issues in innovative ways; and Professor John Underhill was part of discussion delving into energy transitions and sustainable livelihoods. Scotland Beyond Net Zero brings together universities from across Scotland to pool expertise and resources to address the climate emergency. As the event shows, climate change and nature depletion are multifaceted challenges which we can best tackle by working together and at pace. This year’s NY Climate Week was the biggest yet, with more than 1,000 events aimed at activating capital, culture, and policy to address climate change. CTrees added to the packed agenda with two closed-door roundtable discussions on forest restoration and jurisdictional REDD+; a panel on U.S. tree-level analytics sponsored by the Doris Duke Foundation; and speaking roles at sessions focused on REDD+ baselines and the latest technology for natural climate solutions. All three panels were hosted at the Nature Hub, a central point for discussion on finance for forests and ecosystems, organized by the Nature4Climate coalition. In our latest blog post, Daniel M., director of marketing and communications, highlights 6 areas where CTrees is contributing to nature-based solutions that protect ecosystems and create economic opportunity. From jurisdictional REDD+ to tree-level data, Climate Week highlighted the innovations in technology, policy, and markets that are driving the new forest economy. From parks to city streets, how we manage stormwater shapes the health of our lakes, rivers, and groundwater. At paleBLUEdot, we help communities create sustainability and climate action plans that integrate Best Management Practices (BMPs)—nature-based solutions that filter runoff, reduce pollution, and build more resilient ecosystems and neighborhoods. Restoring peatlands is often seen as a key climate solution. 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆? The answer? Pilicita Mateusz Grygoruk This systematic 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗮-𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 draws on 52 peer-reviewed studies (2014–2024) to examine the outcomes of peatland restoration across tropical, temperate, and boreal regions. When it comes to climate action, nature already provides some of our most powerful solutions. Those who invest in protecting and restoring ecosystems - forests, wetlands, grasslands, and oceans - are Nature Nurturers. They believe that tackling climate change means working with nature, not against it. 🌎 From capturing carbon to strengthening communities and preserving biodiversity, nature-based solutions are crucial to achieving a sustainable and resilient future. We’ve developed a five-part series diving into different carbon credit buyer personas to explore their role in corporate climate action. Each persona represents a distinct mindset and approach to climate investment. It’s not just a persona, it’s a portfolio philosophy! Read part one to learn more.
