After years helping U.S. companies build remote teams across Latin America, one thing became clear, each country has its own rhythm, strengths, and ways of working. Argentina moves fast and adapts quickly. Colombia brings structure and ownership. Brazil is energy and creativity. Mexico blends professionalism with consistency. Hiring across the region isn’t hard, it’s just different. And once you understand those differences, everything gets easier: collaboration, retention, results. That’s exactly why we built this guide. It’s not another “overview of LATAM.” It’s what we’ve learned firsthand from hundreds of hires, turned into a practical roadmap for U.S. founders and teams expanding south. 👉 Read the guide here: https://lnkd.in/e_wrzU9f

🌎 Which Latin American countries are culturally more aligned with the U.S. and Europe? When companies expand globally, culture can become either a multiplier or a barrier. In Latin America, cultural alignment is often underestimated, but it is one of the key factors that defines the success of distributed teams. Several criteria reveal how close each country is to U.S. and European work culture: • English proficiency and global communication skills • Feedback and collaboration style • Decision-making structure and autonomy • Adaptability to Western business expectations Here’s what we see in practice: - Argentina stands out as one of the most culturally aligned countries in the region. English proficiency is high, and professionals tend to communicate directly and take ownership, which matches well with U.S. and European expectations. - Chile follows closely, combining a structured approach to work with a pragmatic communication style and strong educational standards. - Uruguay and Costa Rica show remarkable maturity in cross-border collaboration, driven by stable institutions and an open, international mindset. - Mexico and Brazil, the region’s two largest markets, bring scale and technical excellence but require more deliberate alignment. English fluency varies, and building a common ground for communication and feedback often depends on strong onboarding and leadership clarity. The insight is simple. Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, and Costa Rica offer cultural closeness that shortens the learning curve. Mexico and Brazil offer depth and scale when the right structures are in place. In the end, global hiring is not only about skills. It is about shared context, communication rhythm, and trust. If you’re already hiring across LATAM, ask yourself: are your teams aligned not only in time zone, but in culture? #LATAM #CulturalAlignment #TechTalent #GlobalTeams #Combine

Bridging the Gap Between LATAM Talent and Global Business Needs 🌎🤝 In today’s interconnected world, LATAM talent is playing a critical role in helping global businesses achieve their goals and doing so with aplomb. The region’s professionals bring unmatched technical expertise, creativity, and resilience to the table. But to maximize this potential, we must align LATAM talent with the expectations of global clients. Here’s what I’ve learned about bridging the gap effectively: ✅ Invest in training tailored to global standards: Consistent upskilling and certifications ensure LATAM teams are not just meeting, but exceeding international benchmarks. ✅ Prioritize clear communication: Success depends on reducing misunderstandings. Regular check-ins, culturally sensitive communication styles, and tech tools can foster alignment and build trust. ✅ Ensure language skills are prioritized: Consistent improvement and language practice in many business contexts are critical not only to customers but also to your team. Turnover of dev talent has been linked to lack of opportunity when companies have US customers and only use a subset of their teams due to language proficiency. . ✅ Reinforce quality standards: Setting clear expectations around deliverables and outcomes, while providing actionable feedback, ensures a culture of excellence. When LATAM talent is empowered to align seamlessly with global business needs, the results are transformative—not just for the businesses they serve but for the region itself. To my connections in the LATAM nearshore space: what strategies have you found most effective in creating this alignment? Let’s share insights and learn from one another. #LATAMBusiness #GlobalCollaboration #TalentDevelopment

💭 Why are so many companies struggling to keep their best LATAM talent? Because global competition has completely changed the talent game. Today, professionals in Latin America can work for any company, anywhere. Geography is no longer a limit, and the best people know it. What makes them stay is no longer just salary or perks. They stay when they feel recognized for their work. They stay when they see real growth opportunities. They stay when they connect with a sense of purpose. Recognition creates connection. Development builds loyalty. Purpose drives long-term commitment. If your team feels all three, you are not just retaining talent. You are building a culture that people choose to stay in. #LATAM #GlobalHiring #TalentRetention #EmployerBranding #Combine

Myths vs reality of hiring in LATAM After +5 years co-leading hire searches in LATAM, we came to some findings: 👉 Myth 1: “English will be a barrier” → Reality: candidates collaborate comfortably in bilingual setups — clear docs, async habits, and calls in English. Countries like Argentina have strong English proficiency, which makes day to day smoother. 👉 Myth 2: “Low talent quality” → Reality: Latin America boasts a large, highly educated talent pool with advanced technical skills and strong critical thinking capabilities. Many professionals hold global certifications and are on par with global standards. 👉 Myth 3: ""Hiring in LATAM is about cheap labor"" → Reality: While LATAM can be more cost-effective than U.S. hiring, you must offer competitive salaries and benefits to attract top talent and ensure retention. Rates vary significantly by country and seniority. If you’re considering LATAM, go beyond the Job Description. Talent here manages uncertainty and want to go beyond. We are overachievers.
