Leonardo wins ESA contract for quantum security platform

Leonardo, leading a consortium composed by Thales Alenia Space, Telespazio Belgium, ThinkQuantum and DamoTech Srl, has been awarded a multi-year contract by the European Space Agency - ESA to develop a platform for the validation of quantum-secure communication technologies.   The project officially launched today, October 27, at #ESA’s #ESRIN headquarters in Frascati, Italy.   This initiative aims to create the Quantum Security Validation Platform, an integrated reference architecture designed to analyse, verify, and validate quantum and post-quantum technologies for Space systems. The platform will be both configurable and scalable, to meet a wide range of user requirements.   This announcement highlights the growing importance of quantum technologies in strengthening the security of essential assets, from critical infrastructure to Space systems.   #Leonardo is leading the way in advancing quantum technologies for data security management. This research is being driven through close collaboration between the Quantum & Cryptography Lab within Leonardo Cyber & Security Solutions, led by Massa Alessandro, SVP Technology and Innovation Officer, and the Quantum Technologies team within the #LeonardoInnovationLabs, headed by Massimiliano Dispenza, PhD, Head of Quantum, Optronics & Advanced Materials Labs.
