At the recent Future Skills Forum 2025, co-hosted by CFTE - Centre for Finance, Technology and Entrepreneurship and IBFSG - The Institute of Banking & Finance Singapore, 90+ speakers and 800 participants from 70 countries came together to explore what it means to thrive in an AI-enabled world. Across sessions, one theme kept resurfacing: ➡️ AI can accelerate us, but it will never replace the human soul. Creativity. Empathy. Judgment. The courage to make the right call when no data point can. I was especially moved by a story shared about the Soviet lieutenant colonel who averted a potential World War III by relying on critical thinking and judgment despite system warnings and protocol. A stark reminder that one human insight can change the fate of millions. The launch of Global Women in AI reinforced an insightful truth: AI isn’t here to replace people, but to lift people and create more meaningful and inclusive progress. Because at the centre of every algorithm, moment of innovation and breakthrough…✨is the human being. The Forum closed with the fitting question: “What makes humans human?” Why this matters. In coaching financial advisers, I often hear quiet fears about becoming “replaceable” in an AI-driven world. But true financial and wealth planning isn’t cookie-cutter advice. It’s not repeating generic recommendations that any chatbot can produce. It is about: ✔️ understanding personal priorities ✔️ interpreting unspoken concerns ✔️ designing thoughtful, tailored strategies ✔️ guiding clients through uncertainty ✔️ noticing the subtle details others miss As we upskill to stay competent and relevant, AI can inform, accelerate and enhance but only humans can connect, interpret and guide. Afterall, it is the human-centred details that make all the difference. My personal reflection: ⭐ How can I harness AI to grow faster while staying grounded, empathetic and deeply human? Thank you, Carolyn Neo and the IBF team! I left the Forum inspired, energised… and more human than ever.
