Had an insightful conversation with Shane Read (Chief Information Security Officer & Head of Sales APJ) and Steven Brodie (Director & Chief Revenue Officer) from Goldilock Secure during CyberCon 2025 in Melbourne. I had the opportunity to learn about Goldilock’s FireBreak solution, and it completely changed my understanding of network protection. Initially, I believed that isolating a network during an attack was straightforward. However, Shane Read and Steven Brodie highlighted the complexities involved, such as: >>Service Disruptions: Disconnecting a network can inadvertently impact critical services. >>Complex Infrastructure: Modern networks are intricate, making isolation more challenging. >>Delayed Recovery: Restoring services post-isolation can be time-consuming. FireBreak addresses these issues by enabling precise, on-demand disconnection of specific devices or ports, minimizing service disruptions and facilitating quicker recovery. This approach ensures that only the compromised segments are isolated, leaving the rest of the network operational. The real-world applications of FireBreak were evident when Shane and Steven discussed its potential impact on recent major cyberattacks. Their clear and detailed explanations made the technology's benefits immediately apparent.
