Ton van 't Noordende’s Post

Fantastic work by our portfolio Q*BIRD and BeQCI as they've achieved a major milestone for Europe’s digital security: the first cross-border Measurement Device Independent Quantum Key Distribution (MDI QKD) link in the Benelux! Their 132 km quantum-secure network, powered by the Falqon® Series, now connects Belgium and Luxembourg—linking four key nodes including the University of Luxembourg and the European Space Agency - ESA facility in Redu. Why this matters? 👉 Traditional cryptography won’t withstand quantum computing. 👉 The threat of quantum computers and “Q-Day” means intercepted data today could be decrypted tomorrow. The time for quantum-secure communication is now. 👉 This deployment marks a significant step toward establishing a federated, quantum-resilient European internet as part of the EuroQCI initiative. Thank you, Ton van 't Noordende! We are thrilled to see this milestone recognised. 🙏 Crossing borders with MDI QKD is a major leap, not just for us at Q*BIRD and our partners at BeQCI, but for the broader mission of building a quantum-secure Europe. This link is a strong proof that scalable, federated quantum communication is no longer theoretical, it’s happening. Exciting times ahead as we expand the quantum backbone of Europe! 😎 🙌 🙏
