The Norwegian Space Governance Network is a first-of-a-kind network in Norway that gathers Norwegian researchers with interests in space governance - from law perspectives to space weather approaches. Originally initiated by the Norwegian Space Agency (NOSA) earlier this year, NUPI has been the host of the first network meeting today at our premises. Here, NUPI had the pleasure of presenting some of its key space projects; “Earth to Orbit: Building bridges in space”, “TransatDefence Changing transatlantic security relations: Implications for Europe and Norway”, and a Ministry of Trade report authored by NUPI looking into costs and benefits of Norway’s participation in the EU’s space program. Today’s meeting gathered researchers and government officials from the Direktoratet for romvirksomhet, the UiT Norges arktiske universitet, NMBU - Norwegian University of Life Sciences, NUPI, PRIO and Universitetet i Oslo (UiO).

Our Director H. Ludwig Moeller delivered opening remarks emphasising the importance of strategic cooperation between Europe and Korea, stating: “𝘚𝘱𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘴𝘦𝘤𝘶𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘺 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘢 𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘭 𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘶𝘦, 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘥𝘦𝘦𝘱𝘭𝘺 𝘳𝘰𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘪𝘯 𝘤𝘰𝘰𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯. The symposium marks a pivotal moment in the evolving relationship between Europe and Korea in space affairs. We remain committed to advancing this partnership, building on the Memorandum of Understanding signed with KASS last year, and continuing joint research and engagement to support decision-makers on both sides. 🤝 Together, we are shaping a resilient, cooperative future in space security. 🎥 Watch our Director's opening remarks below ⬇️
