TSMC Inaugurates Global R&D Center, Celebrating Its Newest Hub for Technology Innovation 

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) inaugurated its global Research and Development Center in Hsinchu, Taiwan, serving as a hub for cutting-edge semiconductor technology. The center will house TSMC’s R&D Organization, focusing on 2-nanometer and beyond process technology. With over 7,000 staff expected by September 2023, the facility aims to address current and future challenges in semiconductor tech. TSMC emphasizes sustainability with a green design, including vegetated walls and rooftop solar panels generating 287 kilowatts. Polestar to Open New R&D Facility at Former Saab Factory 

Polestar is set to open a new research and development facility in Trollhattan, Sweden, using a former Saab factory. The 15,000 square-feet site will focus on powertrain development for the Polestar 5 and Polestar 6, conducting tests on powertrains, electric motors, and batteries. Although Polestar will rent the facility, it won't establish a production line there, relying on its sister brands for manufacturing. Wolfspeed and ZF Group to Open R&D Center in the Nuremberg Metropolitan Region, Germany to Optimize Silicon Carbide Semiconductor Technology 

 ZF and Wolfspeed, in collaboration with the German government, plan to establish a joint R&D center for silicon carbide power electronics in Nuremberg, supported by an EU scheme. This center, coupled with Wolfspeed's silicon carbide chip factory in Saarland, aims to become the core of a European silicon carbide technology network. Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) plans to establish its largest design center in Bengaluru, Karnataka, by year-end, potentially employing 3,000 engineers in five years.
