We wrapped up an inspiring week with a visit to NVIDIA headquarters right after the scverse conference. Huge thanks to the NVIDIA Healthcare team for hosting us and for the great discussions on scaling single-cell analysis and accelerating open science.
A special thanks to Severin Dicks, who lives in the space between NVIDIA and scverse, serving both with passion and acting as a true bridge between the two worlds.
Exciting things are on the horizon. Let's make scverse even more accelerated! ⚡️
Innovation is in our DNA at GE HealthCare. But it’s not just innovation for innovation’s sake – it’s driven by a strong purpose to deliver technologies with the potential to transform medicine’s future.
After years of anticipation, I’m proud to announce the 510(k) submission of our Photonova Spectra photon-counting CT system with Deep Silicon detectors (510(k) pending with the U.S. FDA; not available for sale).*
This is the culmination of nearly two decades of vision, persistence, and innovation. Back in 2006, when I led GE Healthcare’s CT business, our team introduced the world’s first photon-counting CT prototype. The technology showed promise, but it wasn’t ready – yet.
Fast forward to today: we’ve collaborated with healthcare and technology leaders, including NVIDIA, to reimagine that vision and we’ve designed something bold and novel. I believe Photonova Spectra will represent a leap forward in precision care.
This innovation is a direct result of our $3 billion R&D investment across our portfolio since 2022. It’s one of more than 20 significant technologies across GE HealthCare, all designed to help elevate patient care, empower clinicians and deliver sustainable growth for the company.
Congratulations to the entire GE HealthCare team that brought us to this milestone, supporting our vision of delivering the next era of precision care!

The future expects more, so we’re innovating. ✨ Today, we're announcing Photonova Spectra* the first in the next generation of spectral photon counting CT systems with 8-bins of energy resolution, built on our proprietary Deep Silicon detector technology (510(k) pending with the U.S. FDA; not available for sale).
Traditional CT converts X-rays into light before measuring them. Photon counting directly counts individual photons and measures their energy, enabling the potential for high resolution and impressive tissue characterization.
“Clinicians need clear answers as patient volumes rise and cases grow more complex,” shares Chad Rowland, General Manager, Photon Counting CT and Premium CT, GE HealthCare. “Photonova Spectra was engineered for that reality—leveraging Deep Silicon detectors, seeking to deliver ultra-high-definition imaging with wide coverage and fast acquisition. It is designed to deliver precise visualization of subtle tissue variations, small lesions and vascular structures in one scan, with the aim of providing clinicians the confidence to diagnose and plan treatment quickly.”
Our design goals? Photonova Spectra is strategically engineered to automatically capture ultra-high-definition spatial resolution and full 8-bin spectral data in every scan. Harnessing 50x more data^ with the help of NVIDIA technology, it is designed to support vast amounts of information with the goal of enabling fast answers for patients and diagnostic confidence for clinicians.

At GE HealthCare, innovation isn’t accidental—it’s intentional. From our earliest breakthroughs to today’s wave of introductions, we’ve innovated with purpose: creating technologies that help empower clinicians and transform care.
That’s why I’m excited to announce our 510(k) submission for Photonova Spectra,* our next-generation spectral photon-counting CT system (510(k) pending with the U.S. FDA; not available for sale). Built to help tackle some of healthcare’s most complex challenges, it is designed for:
- Remarkable spectral and spatial resolution for ultra-high-definition imaging, powered by its unique 8-energy bin Deep Silicon detector design
- Capturing both spatial and spectral data during every scan—automatically. No extra setup. No multiple protocols. Just powerful insights, every time.
- New possibilities for research in quantitative imaging, tissue characterization, and spectral biomarker discovery
The system is powered with some of NVIDIAs most advanced processing technology to harness 50x more data than conventional CTs^ for fast, actionable insights
And this is just the beginning. Since 2022, we’ve invested over $3 billion in R&D, developing more than 20 innovative products — all designed to help advance precision medicine and streamline care.
Together, we’re shaping a future where healthcare has no limits.

Is the future of healthcare faster, safer, and more human? Yes, thanks to AI.
A projected 11 million worker shortage is challenging global healthcare. But new partnerships powered by NVIDIA are delivering real-world benefits directly to patients.
👩⚕️ More face time with your doctor
Abridge automates medical notes, potentially saving doctors 30% of their time. The benefit is clear as Kimberly Powell notes, the technology ensures that "Rather than your doctor sitting there typing, instead of having eye contact with you, it's able to capture all of that automatically."
⏱️ Life-saving speed in diagnosis
Aidoc instantly analyzes radiology images, helping doctors detect critical conditions like strokes in seconds, speeding up triage when every moment counts.
🤖 Precision & accessibility
GE HealthCare and Moon Surgical are deploying 'Physical AI' robots to bring enhanced precision and broader access to diagnostic imaging and surgical camera control.
🛡️ Surgical safety first
Johnson & Johnson MedTech is building virtual operating room simulation to perfect robotic surgery and ensure the highest safety standards for patients.
This technology isn't replacing human professionals; it's empowering them to focus on high-value patient care and fight burnout.
